Trading needs the same "revolution" that martial arts went through 15 years ago

  1. First of all I didnt say it doesnt work I said it doesnt work on multiple opponents period. Typical of brainwashing - only see what you want.

You "reviewed and researched"? Thats nice and very brave. Typical of the new breed of "fighter". Ever fight in bare knuckle fights in chinatown for cash? Paid for my college. Ever troll the NYC subways for fights as a mode of training? Ever fight anyone with a weapon? If any answer is no then you're not a fighter you just participate in a sport but thats ok and deserves some credit I guess.

MMA/BJ/UFC is to real fighting what WPT is to poker.

And for the record, it's you MMA/BJ guys who are always hugging, kissing and spooning after every "match".

  3. STAND BACK EVERYBODY!!!

Mr chinatown street fighter has arrived and he is a REAL FIGHTER... all those MMA guys who do nothing but train to fight day in and day out are not REAL fighters

    LMFAAAOOOOOOO......

So you scrapped with some nobodys on the street, whooopie..... who hasnt.

Step into the ring with a pro MMA guy and send us the video, then youll have some credibility.

"spooning"? No... BJJ guys grapple. The fact that you see it as "spooning" is what makes you so homo LOL
Everything is "gay" to you, thats about says it all LOL

Anyway, im done with this thread. The delusional mystical unstoppable super duper street fighter has showed up. I must bow down before his greatness and tremble in fear, and exit the building immediately. He might steal my lunch money after all LOL

  5. Why is everybody all:

"boo hoo, bjj doesn't work against multiple attackers!"

like they're making some kind of point?

Nothing really works against multiple attackers.

Think about it. If TKD doesn't work against even ONE attacker, htf will it work against MULTIPLE attackers?

Your kata where you fight off 10 imaginary attackers won't actually help you against multiple attackers.

But if you're getting attacked by multiple people, you would still have the highest chance for survival if you used Muay Thai and bjj.

It's like saying "x style doesn't work against 10 opponents with knives and machine guns therefore it's USELESS!"

    Seriously now.

LOL, you're dead meat for a high school varsity wrestler, let alone anyone who grapples & cross trains.

Judo is better in the street, especially versus multiple opponents. Simple trips will do the trick, you may not even need to pull off a throw.

  8. Martial arts is cyclical, I have a friend with 6th degree belt in Kyokushin and he's an historian. He says grappling was king quite a few decades back then Karate got popular, then boxers were taking the Karate championships and then grappling made it's way back.. personally I don't care about fighting other experts, anybody that has read The Art of War realizes that both sides tend to pay costs if they fight, better to have the ability and just keep it at that. Therefore the right focus for self defense is going to be in terms of an ordinary street fight. I found a school that did that, in fact they could customize learning to anything you wanted. The focus was to detect the direction and power of an attack, avoid it by a few really nice blocking techniques that allowed me to get close to the attacker and fight by feel, once you are maintaining contact you can detect his moves much better. We practiced with the blindfolds and circling around while touching the opponent all the time... The rules were very simple, simple enough so you could do them in an actual fight... at the other end of a punch is a neck, at the other end of a kick is a groin and split the attacker down by making the top half of his body go one way and the bottom half the other way... Unfortunately they were geared to speed learning and I got my neck injured, old school teachers would teach falling and conditioning before combat for some very good reasons...... I could not stick around and learn about multiple attackers but I actually was around a guy named John Leoning way back before I took any lessons, can we say "Tongs"? I knew one of his students and he said the basic philosophy regarding fighting multiple opponents is to take them one at a time... if u watch the video of the street fight that was posted earlier you will see that the guy fights very furiously when he can't go one on one in an attempt to work the crowd until he can fight just one at a time then he picks his targets...

if anybody can add to this tutorial level fighting philosophy and tactics that I have aquired for myself over the years please feel free to do so... Opinions are welcome.

  9. You are mostly describing clinch fighting, which is very effective, but you dont want to do it with multiple opponents. It only takes one guy to clinch with you to ensure all his buddies can clinch too, drag you to the ground and stomp your head into the ground.

You gotta run, and throw punches only when necessary to make the attacker pause so you can run more. Kicks.... probably not a good idea because only one guy has to sacrifice and take one kick, trap it, and you are going down.

A boxer can pull off what was shown in the video once in a blue moon, *IF* his attackers are totally clueless and run straight into him with their chins sticking out like in the video and assuming they are out in the open and there is room to run. Lots of IF's there. But 9/10 times even a boxer will be tackled and stomped. Taking a boxer down is pretty trivial.

If they are stupid enough to stand with him, he has a bit of a chance but do you really want to rely on luck and a perfect set of variables?

A Judo/BJJ guys has a lot of clinch, grip breaking knowledge and take down defense. (Wrestlers dont know how to deal with people grabbing their clothes. ) They will be the toughest to take down and most likely to break grips, trip, throw people, and run like hell.

A BJJ guy is the most likely to get back to his feet if taken down simply because they are the best on the ground and escaping ground positions.

But discussing multiple opponents is quite silly because 99% of fights are one on one, and if you cant even defend against a SINGLE attacker, you have no chance against multiple anyway.

Many traditional martial arts cannot even defend against one attacker so you gotta laugh when they start talking about multiple attackers.

Im a BJJ/Muay Thai guy, but in a multiple attacker scenario, id have to go with BJJ/Boxing since using kicks is just too risky in that scenario.

Sprinting skills are the best against multiple attackers.
