the weakest thing in ufc is the boxing...mma guys are great at everything except boxing/striking...Sometimes it is a joke watching them box so badly ie chuck lidell.Watch a real boxing match and you will see.I rather watch these guys use techniques they are good at like grappling and kicks than watch them going for the chin knockout swing.
You are right on there but unfortunately many fighters who are good at striking are not competing in the mma. Historically it was the one strike knock out phenomenon to deal with the ever relenting grappler that became the bad habit of mma fighters today, so far only a few came closed to being a good striker.
Oh man, the first thing that came to mind reading this thread was the following... lmao <object width="512" height="296"><param name="movie" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/Sifw5QMvxfi6BGxYl7OtuA"></param><embed src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/Sifw5QMvxfi6BGxYl7OtuA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="512" height="296"></embed></object>
Im no expert by any stretch but if you are a fan of boxing you cannot beleive the boxing technique in mma:hands down, wild swinging. Sometimes i am perplexed when i hear the ufc announcers saying how great chuck liddel is at being a boxer. I think Chuck would get knocked out in about 10 seconds against any amateur boxer.Check out those manny paquito fights-now that is boxing. Just look at any fight with tyson, aaron pryor,leonard,hearns-now that is how boxing is done.Boxing isnt that popular now but man when you see a match you cant beleive what they call boxing in mma. btw,one of the best mma fights i have seen,as far as display of amazing technique(transitions, reversals, escapes etc...),was the Tyson Griffin vs. Frankie Edgar fight ufc 67.
You dont see good technical boxing in MMA because boxing DOESNT WORK IN MMA. Yes, I said it. The striking in MMA is modified. If you try and use pure boxing it makes takedowns TRIVIAL. Striking changes completely when you have to consider takedowns.
Sorry, a japanese jiu jitsu guy cannot take out 2 guys. Traditional japanese jiu jitsu is mostly TMA crap. I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to bring up multiple opponents. Let me tell you the truth. Strikers have no advantage over multiple opponents. No MA is going to help you against aggressive multiple opponents who really want to fight. If a pure striker cant defend a takedown from a single opponent, then he has no chance against multiple opponents. They simple have to tackle him at the same time and he is done. None of this BS hollywood stuff where one guy attacks at a time LOL Ive actually grappled with 3 untrained friends at the same time and it was easy submitting all 3 fairly quickly. But if they were allowed to punch, the odds would suck.
