Trading mentor and real answers

Discussion in 'Trading' started by jaytrader100, Mar 24, 2008.

  1. I have been successfully trading futures, stocks, and options on both since 1996. I have day traded, scalped, and position traded with a total transaction amount of well over 30,000. I have a degree in Psychobiology from Florida Atlantic University and have made numerous business contacts at the exchanges including locals in the futures pits and trading rooms during the dot.com boom. I started out as a broker and became a trader after seeing individual investors lose millions of dollars trying to trade. I feel that my largest mistake was GOING IT ALONE. Every great success story has alwasy had a mentor. This forum is fantastic, but who really knows who is typing on the other end. I have read hundreds of books and academic papers on noise trading, technical analysis, fundamentals, trading systems etc. I feel that I haven't given back enough to anyone at this point so I am offering to do a trade analysis/mentoring/coaching to anyone who is interested. You must be someone who is either thinking about trading or is already trading. i WILL ALSO ANSWER QUESTIONS ON THIS FORUM AS CORRCTLY AS i CAN FOR YOUR BENEFIT. So feel free to post legitimate questions. If you would like a 1 on 1 telephone meeting send me an e-mail with your phone number, and I will get back to you as soon as I can. MY intent is to help those struggling out there with real information and hopefully speed up the learning cuve for trading. I dm not charging for this service, and I am more than qualified to be in this position. Looking forward to meeting some of you who might need a little out of the box perseepctive. THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY IS DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS.

    Sincerely,

    Jay

  2. It should be obvious that the trading amount was not in dollars but in transactions..trades. Oh well.. years ago I would have been chomping at the bit if someone offered this to me.

A fresh perspective from a professional.. thinking outside the box and potentially some criticism.

say Jay, guess what, the thing about internet is that you can come across your shadow

    ME

let me ask you a question,

    a trader like you

how quickly can you turn 200 k into 400 k in the ES futures

Oh don't tell me in a single trade, you could also place 200 k in casino in Vegas on RED

please include how long in time would it take you to turn 200 k into 400 k

and how many trades it would take to do this

you could throw in your maximum DD

oh but it wouldn't be fun if I don't start first

    200 k to 400 k in two months
70 trades in 40 trading days
    maximum DD 35%

I HAVE NEVER MET someone better than me

do you have what it takes ?????

  9. Jay (or anyone else that can help me),

I want to trade for a living. I have opened an account at an online brokerage with $10,000. I have not yet bought or sold anything - I am trying to educate myself and develop a methodology and strategy before I risk my money.

I am currently reading John J. Murphy's "Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets". I have skimmed through a book on options, as well as some more "pop" investing books such as "Investing Like a a Shark" and one of Cramer's books. I spend alot of time at Investopedia.com, trying to get my head around some investing and trading concepts.

I think I would like to start trading in stock or stock options, primarily using technical analysis. I need a high-growth strategy to get some more capital fairly quickly if I am going to do this for a living any time soon.

With this background in mind, I would like to ask you some questions:

    1) What books, web sites, or other resources would you recommend to give me the necessary knowledge and mindset?

    2) Assuming that I want a $20,000 annual income plus significant capital growth, and assuming that I will not add significantly to my modest trading stake of $10k, how quickly could you estimate that I could make this a full-time job? 1-4 years? 5-10?

    3) I don't know anything about futures. Should I bother to, at this early stage?

    4) What kind of securities would you recommend that I start with, and what strategy would you recommend that I take? Options confuse me but I am trying to understand them as completely as possible because it seems like I will not be able to achieve the kind of rapid growth that I want with just stocks.

  10. I will answer all of your question over the telephone. I do not have time to type out all of my answers.. however, I do not think that making 20 K a year is "trading for a living" and if you are just starting out.. then you had better keep your day job. As far as making 20K a year off of 10K over the next fews years.. highly doubtful. I am not trying to tell you that you cannot do it, but I am trying to be realistic and so should you. Most people over estimate their abilities especially when they are kicking ass in demo accounts which are great for a skill set, but real money and real trading is entirerly different.
Send me an e-mail with your phone number and I will call you when I can.
    thanks
    Jay
