I'm having a hard time watching my charts vs. the U.S. Open. I have an account with an online sports book that put a line out that Tiger WOULD NOT win the Open. They gave me 3-1 odds which I think is pretty damn good considering the expected weather conditions. He'll probably win, but Phil is due. Some of these sites have the most ridiculous props to wager on.

I've been researching JDSUs fundamentals and looking at their financials very closely. I have read from 2 independent analysts that they are debt free and have 1.5 BILLION in cash. That makes the P/E ratio 1. I'm a bit weary of these statements. If those numbers are correct there has to be some serious accounting manipulation. I love this company Long term and am looking to buy a large position. I was curious if any of you had additional info or comments regarding JDSU. Waxie doesn't like it which is why I've now drawn an interest on the long side. They are the leader in their sector and I believe will increase 5X once the telecom sector turns around.... and it will just like every sector, it's just going to take longer than we are used for sector reversals. Thanks for any info.

I work for a major supplier to them so I need to be careful what I say.

One of the major concerns with JDSU is that they outsource all of their production. They don't need to carry any inventory on their balance sheet, but, they will still be liable if they cut their own order books.

Another issue with them is that they are facing major competition nowadays from established co's as well as start ups.

However, I too believe that the stock has been way overdone on the downside. I haven't looked at their financials but I will and see what I can make of it.

    Cheers

  10. Seanote,

Two points, unfortunately they are contradictory. One is the market is totally washed out, with many tech stocks at the point of either bottoming or going belly up. So what are you risking? A couple of bucks, kind of a long-dated option. Two, JDSU is dependent on telco fiber business which is going nowhere. Too much of the stuff now, theycan't pay for what they got and don't need any more.
