trading isolation

  1. Sorry so late to the party on this Thread I just found it. In the past couple of years I have been very very blessed with being able to find a system that has more than provided for me and my family. So much so that we are seriously looking at moving to Puerto Rico to take advantage of Act 60. But the isolation has been a big thing that I have had my struggles with. Unlike what YouTube would have you believe, if you truly have an incredible system that gives you an significant edge the LAST thing I would think anyone would do is advertise it! In this world where markets so very very efficient if I were to share my system with 100 people then that would destroy it. So I can only talk to my friends of generalities of the derivative world nothing specific which leaves me only my family I can be open and honest with on a daily basis. That is wonderful and all but it still doesn't come close to the Water Cooler Talk that one gets in an office envoirnment. I would not change anything and I am very happy with my life but I REALLY wish there was someone else outside my family I could discuss my sucesses and chanllenges with specifically.

  2. This is what i did. Have a tv on ( cnbc or bloomberg). You dont feel as isolated.
Go out to lunch and read the paper while you are there. You are around people.
Join a gym. You will not feel isolated.
If its nice out , get some sunlight, even for a few minutes. Open up your blinds and do not keep your house or apartment dark.

The best thing I ever did was surround myself w traders that were smarter than me. We formed a small discord group. We exchange ideas and help motivate each other.
With that being said we do not do enough trade review and accountability.
If anyone is interested in starting a small group let me know. I only want to be around people who are smarter then myself and have at least 10000 hours of screen time under their belts.
It would be ideal if you also did this for a living... I have found people who are doing this for a living are super serious and are not chasing the latest hot indicator fad. These are the type of people I want to surround myself with. If you have interest dm me. I dont come here a lot so if I dont answer right away dont fret.

  4. Since I'm not an active daytrader, normally I just watch YouTube while looking out for trades.

Working alone is one of the things a trader has to deal with. Meditation and exercise as well as having other interests helps. After checking some of the science, I also got a cat which was an amazing experience. Sadly he died of old age. Cats have a very calming and soothing effect on a human's heart and consequently stress levels.
