I started studying towards an open degree last year to beat the boredom. Completed 4 modules: maths, stats, money management and economics. This academic year I am focusing on psychology modules. Even though the new academic year only starts next month, I have already received the coursework and started on my first assignment. It is such interesting material that I cant put the book down.
THis for me helps break the day up. It also helps you understand yourself because as you read through the material you cant help but reflect on your own peculiar habits and mental processes.

    Are you kidding me?

Making money with a weekly or monthly chart and making money with a 5-min or 15-min chart are both equally challenging activities!

Trading with higher time frames is not "easier", as your post suggests.

I find trading to be the biggest challenge in life, as well as captivating. I feel isolated when markets are closed.

The forum here helps, because we talk trading, which I can't do with friends or family, their eyes glaze over lol.

Trading is a lonely profession, that's one reason I run my chatroom and biz for 20+ years.

    Really?

Personally I feel relieved when the markets are closed for the weekend, even if the trading results for that week are very good.

Seriously, we do have to take a break from the market each week, or from any activity for that matter!

In fact, the whole trading business is about making good money so we can enjoy life.

Actually people said consistently profitable trading is boring and it is pretty true, because when you get there you just have strong discipline and trade those optimal opportunities with your set of rules and eliminate those random acts. Boring because you have to wait for the profitable windows which won't show up all day around so most of the time you are just waiting and idling; boring is also you pretty know what the results would be most of the times at the moment when you enter your trade, so not much surprise, therefore not exciting and that is the boring part.

  8. I got to trade with a few of the biggest winners of a certain broker I met at a party. As the years went some divorced, had terrible rage issues, problems with alcohol, cocaine and pills like Oxy and Xanax to bring them down. It’s a tough life unless your balanced and love the Market.

I have solved that problem a long time ago : I look for daily trading setups in at least 40 different financial instruments, Forex and commodities mostly, on the 15-min charts.

And believe me, I ALWAYS find plenty of day-trading opportunities every single day.

That's the secret, watch as many markets as you can, don't limit yourself to one or two markets. And no, it is not that difficult, after a while you get used to it.

Find side projects. Writing software is a great distraction and also rewarding both in direct terms and intellectually.
