well, luck plays an important part in life etc. etc. But I think in trading, in the LONG RUN, it's a game of skill. On any individual trade, it could be luck. But it's highly unlikely that you can win over long periods of time like a 5-10yrs track record with luck. I mean theorectically it's still possible that it's all luck, but statistically it's very improbable that you can win that consistently for years and years on end without some edge. Read Market Wizards. good luck! (irony intended!) trader99
This is basically what I was about to say when reading the previous posts. One can have luck with long term investments, and one can have luck in the short term while daytrading or swing trading, but as the given sample size gets larger, the chances for "luck" get smaller, until its almost impossible that someone's success is pure luck.
so well said! *** ok, did <a href="http://www.agribiz.com/merchdiz/cointoss/cointoss.html">this</a> get posted on this thread somewere?
I can't believe i have to respond to this. Everyone is dealt a hand. Everyone makes his own decision to either fold or call and maybe even raise. What did the child that was born to the parents of bill gates have to do with it? Bill Gates made his own luck. You can too. You can either believe this, or you can believe that things happen to you because you are unlucky, never take responsibility for your actions and fail in the market...ad infinitum. This is why I hate posting on these boards, because someone has to come along and nitpick to death what someone else says. I said "one makes one's own luck" What this MEANS is that YOU are your own determining factor in your overall success/failure. I can not help that you were unable to understand this. Now if you disagree with that then I truly can not help it. Would be a FRUITLESS endevour to continue the discussion. I don't think I'll be posting again it just isn't worth it.
DAMN BRO U ARE DUMB........................ U TELLING ME BILL GATES KIDS ARENT LUCKY ???????????????? GOT MILK ? HOW BOUT A BRAIN ??
While Bill Gates is obviously a genius in many respects, even he, (if you know the complete story of how MS-DOS got chosen as the OS for the IBM PC), was more than a little "lucky". Peace, rs7
yes, you must be lucky 16 32.00% no, luck can not overcome skill 34 68.00% Every time I look at this vote I can't believe that there are so many who actually think - or believe - "luck" plays any roll in successful trading! Those who believe so really need a lot of "luck" Good luck to you
I guess some people have a long way to go before being profitable at trading. The only thing is: I hope you are not lucky at trading because the day luck goes away, you're in a for a WILD unhealthy and maybe lethal ride.
