Hey you have only been here 5 or 6 years. I have heard that people who baffle easily take 10,000 hours to get a grip. It may be a good idea to estrange yourself from those who baffle you. They may live in places where there are a lot of good traders and they don't cut it. This last few months you have been up and down quite a bit. You say you can't find many who appeal to you for having an intellectual connection. ET advertizes as a site that has appeal. That first post of yours was a real zinger. But maybe you are going to get past those old beliefs in a while.
I think about this "internet effect" a lot because you see it on almost every forum. I think the fact that internet forums are anonymous and one has complete control of not just what they are posting but the facts behind their "expertise" leads to this to be a sort of fantasy reality. Lots of people on any forum (sports, trading, anything...) enjoy presenting themselves in the way they wish they were. Know-it-all cynicism, "fisking", self congratulation.... It's a world where humility and restraint are a weakness. It's tiring and sad that the internet can't be better. Eternal September continues http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_september
Like with most things, there's an upsideâ¦, and downside to the internet... With a few keystrokes â I can be speaking with someone on the other side of the world Think of the possibilities to learn/ share/ grow Conversely No longer is there a need to look another square in the eye to hold this conservation I can embellish/ exaggerate/ lie â to my heartâs content No longer must I contend with, or share â my imperfections/ inadequacies/ frailties Weâre losing that which make us most human⦠most likable⦠and unfortunately, most in common - the need to interact with each other on a personal level I also think the net is a perfect venue to allow folks to show their true inner self - unfortunately Such is the pity (we grow..., but simultaneously we shrink) RN
Redneck, that is rather profound. The internet is indeed the place where people behave in ways that in meatspace would get them a punch on the nose. Perhaps it's also a case of "monkey see monkey do" http://alexautindotcom.wordpress.com/2012/11/02/monkey-see-monkey-do/
Even a redneck stumbles upon a nut occasionally Thank You EQ I agree, there is merit to the "monkey see, monkey do" syndrome RN
