Over 100+ Starbucks locations in Thailand I think they charge like $1.5/hour http://ksc.net/Channel.aspx?Channel=16 Nowadays other coffee shops brands and even shoping malls are equiped with wi-fi wireless internet, i am talking about bangkok
Thanks. I'm seriously thinking about making a trip down there this fall. I've heard wonderful things from everyone who has been there and even have a relative that has lived over there for several years. He claims to have been on the beach two hours before the tsunami.
Anyone think it a good idea to start a thread where traders can post info about broadband wireless service areas anywhere in the world?I dont mean coffee shops and other hot spots. The biggest problem for a trader, who only wants to stop a few months in a place,is getting his own internet connection.
That's no problem at all, if you're willing to subscribe for a year, which is the most common subscription period in most countries.
I think you are wrong. When you fly in some place ,you are viewed as a transient foreigner and the local telco's dont want to be bothered with you.In fact, even in the US,where they fight to offer you "deals",they still want a social security number on a contract. I think wireless services will develop differently with customers able to buy a month,or so many mb's, with a credit card.
You can apply for DSL in thailand for even 2 months on tourist visa, i have checked this twice with TRUE internet company, i went personably there and check things out But your cost will be little higher (because of initial setup cost involved like subscription, modem...) , and takes about a week each for installing and removal of the service
Wireless broadband? We're talking Thailand here, where Patong, the major beach resort on Phuket, still doesn't have closed sewage pipes.
yes, it's simple to get a good connection. adsl is availabnle pretty much everywhere. it's fine - i have 1mb tot and never have problems. back up is wireless from hutch, not bad but not broadband. also have dial-up. this is so easy to get, if you don't have this you aren't serious about connectivity. wireless from starbucks is available if you are just looking for a casual connection.
