If you really want to cheap it out, load the car with some battery backups, thermos of coffee with sandwiches or whatever and park in Starbucks, Burger King, Dennys, library parking lot. Drive a van and put a desk and whatever else you need to make comfy. I like the soft leather seats at Starbucks myself, so end table for my coffee, I am set. Not enough room for anyone to seat next to me as I have chair wedged into corner and if someone tries to sit next to me, I look at them and in a harsh way to leave. And if you go usually times, same other folks are there as well. But when someone comes near, I always hide what I am doing and have a game of solitare going.

I have traded in several other countries coffee shops and many of them open 24 hours a day, definitely want extra firewall and I never go there twice or longer than an couple hours.

How about a public restroom inside a Starbucks?

Free Internet - being free it has to be the pinnacle of reliability
Privacy - nobody will steal your trades or photograph you through a window
Comfortable throne - trade like a king!
Ate a dodgy curry last night? Won't miss a trade due to toilet break.
Hands getting sweaty on a big trade? Wipes easily available.

  3. you can trade from a laptop from just about anywhere there is an internet connect. I always have my phone available for tethering and a 4g mifi connection if there is no wifi available. absolutely fine especially if you are swing trading or not taking many trades. obv if you are scalping or need the very best prices for your strategy it is not advisable.

  4. For the swing trader, what kind of wireless ISP is recommended? Probably it use cell signal?

How much is the plan and 3 years of contract?

PS) In case we travel abroad frequently, is there any wireless ISP for worldwide connection?

  5. I have a tweet from Nassim Taleb which I can't find, where he says he only works in coffee shops, finding offices to be empty of creative thought.

Of course 99.9% of the time he isn't actually trading when he's 'working'. I like working in coffee shops (and libraries, and park benches) as well; but I'm not trading eithier (I'm eithier writing or programming). A noisy enviroment like a coffee shop would be an insane place to try eg discretionary short term technical trading; you need a decent office, chair and multiple screens. If you're a longer term macro guy who spends months reading the economist, FT and NYT before deciding what to do, then it would do just fine.

  6. I agree. Sometimes we need quiet office for work.
However, sometimes coffee shop is better for new and creative thought, since we can see several faces of many people with free talk.

The OP refers to a case of a 60's person everyday in coffee shop, mainly for not sleeping home.
He always sit near glass windows, face to the street, not to show sleeping to sidewalkers.
I think he has enough reason and worth to pay $5 for coffee everyday. (his favorite office environment for $100 per month)

you can trade from where ever you like , but the main thing is you should be comfortable there, this is the best par of forex trading, you dont have to find any specific place for doing your work.

  9. I agree, without internet, even in 30 years ago, you could't say like that.

Lots of thing has changed. For example, you don't have to pay hugh rent to live in or near Wall Street.
Probably influence to moderate global rent price.

Pay $30/M for internet, to lower your rent for $300/M or $600/M.
