HELP aka "The Office" is open 7 days a week. Make sure you go to The Termas! PM me your e mail address, I have a great Terma Guide!
Thank you for affirming my concerns about Brazil, no seriously sorry to hear that happened to you. It sounds like you had a good time though.
would like to ask the ET folks who have been or are living in rio for any recommendations on what to check out. looking forward to visiting brazil for the first time. will be in rio first then probably florianopolis then sao paolo. thanks.
I've been in brazil like 3 years, first as an ex-pat and now trading. I spent like a year in Rio... it all depends on what your into... alot of the toursim there is whore mongering... HELP disco is world famous and there are some higher end "bars" on princesa isabel street. Termas (saunas) are cool as well, you can do a search on the net there are alot of guides. For dining I like the frommers guide: http://www.frommers.com/destinations/riodejaneiro/2845_inddin.html There nightlife guide is outdated, but most of the clubs are in ipanama and leblon a couple of the higher end neighborhoods... places like Baronnetti, Bombar and Melt. Nice but its a younger crowd. Lapa is an old neighborhood with a lot of clubs which cater to all ages but mostly brazilian music. Barra, about a half hour from the main tourist beaches also has alot of nightlife buts its like a half hour taxi. Sightseeing of course includes the christ and sugar loaf. I lived in sao paulo and now i'm close to floripa... pm me with any specific questions.
thanks for the reply braziltrader. i've been in rio a few days, and am having a nice time. will check out ur suggestions. thanks. women here are really something arent they
Ipanema has a nicer beach crowd during the day than Copa if you are looking for "normal" Cariocas. Make sure you visit Solarium after a stressful day! Rua JJ Seabra, 21, Jardim Botanica. el surdo
Yep, Jeri is a full on resort town now thanks to the wind. Some of the best windsurfing on the planet, and definitely the most consistent. Its fully built out though cause its surrounded by national park on which no one can build. This means that real estate prices have SOARED. Place is fun as hell though. Other than the water, lots of great restaurants (mostly cheap), and nightlife like anywhere in Brazil. Beware of the local women however. Everyone I met either wanted lots of booze or cocaine (very prevalent there), and they try to get pregnant by rich foreigners. Gotta keep your wits.
