Trading/Hedge Fund INTERNSHIPS

Discussion in 'Professional Trading' started by Gordon Gecko, Dec 28, 2006.

  1. Hi,

I'm an economics major at NYU and my current gpa is 3.7. I am a sophmore and I want to learn more about trading/hedge funds. I have absolutely no experience in the financial field; only the things i have read in books, newspapers etc. Given my lack of experience, which is the best way to break into the trading industry. I am willing to work without pay. I just want to gain experience. Any suggestions on where i should apply for internships for trading. Many of them require experience, which is my only concern. I live in nyc, so that should help. Thanks!

  2. NYU kids don't have much problems getting internships in the city. Just start doing the regular thing, getting a non-paid internship isn't that hard. Lots of hedge funds in the city, start using your school's resources and just send out resumes with cover letters to hedge funds, broker-dealers, etc. Just walk into the offices of some of these firms, give in your resume w/cover letter, try to get to speak to someone.

Just takes confidence and initiative, not much even.
