I never traded NYSE when I traded equities. I wasn't familiar with this organization. Thanks. Any idea why this happened? Is it technical?
Didn't Tom Clancy write about a siac failure in one of his books? About some plot to erase all the data for past trades and crash the markets. Good read.
"To all traders: Wed Jun 1 16:12:10 2005 EST AMEX market data is once again available. AMEX options are once again available." nitro
From the NYSE website glossary: Securities Industry Automation Corporation (SIAC) SIAC operates the New York and American Stock Exchanges automation and communications systems to support trading, market data reporting, and surveillance activities. SIAC also supports the NSCC's nationwide clearance and settlement systems and it is the systems processor for industry-wide National Market System components, such as CTS, CQS, and ITS. SIAC is jointly owned by the NYSE and AMEX. "technical" You know they are counting up orders right now and seeing which way they can screw the traders and set up for tomorrow's open.
