Actually, I needed to edit my post because I initially thought he didn't talk about the speed but I then quoted him about 3 mins after reading the message post...

I then notice he did talk about the speed of 5mbps via Satellite but everything else he stated was odd.

I'm guessing he could be temporary stuck at port due to the industry being hit hard from the Coronavirus. Thus, he still has access to his office / internet even though he's not getting paid while stuck at port.

I'd expect 500ms Lag from a cruise ship as it's using Sattelite in Geostationary orbit 36,000Km's, but SpaceX's version out in the north end of the year maybe @20ms, so that'll work fine.

If you trade with Limit orders it won't be so bad, you'll miss some trades, if you trade with market the price you see won't be the price you get.

  3. I just hope he's not captain of the ship! That will be the next cruise ship disaster! Cruise ship runs aground while captain and crew are daytrading!

It seemed to me that he is home right now (jobless) but wants to continue trading once back on a cruise ship. So looking for anyone experienced trading via satellite.
But I admit it isn’t clear whether he is on a cruise ship right now.

Nobody is on Cruise ships at the moment, unless he lives on it, while docked at the port.

Sure he'd just try trading if that was the case and question answered :)

He won't know unless he is on that cruise ship, trading through the satellite connection. Assuming he is on the ship and is on that connection, the tracert will show him his ping and packet-loss. Those are the two components that matter, not the bandwidth.

So since everyone's connection is different and unique, it is pointless to give a specific answer, without his specific results.

(My guess is he will be fine. Small traders can get away with very little bandwidth, and moderate ping/packetL)

  7. To all who think this is like 1999, just a reminder that IF you are correct, you should be prepared to have Nasdaq 14,000 by end of the year.

Well I don't see it as any concern, reason being is cruise ships aren't setting sail till at least September and if there is an uptick in virus cases, which we are hearing that there are, then ships probably won't set sail until 2021 all while getting more bailout money. Aside from that it seems he's making free money while the markets only skyrocket so just keep collecting that free money and don't worry about the connection. Looks like the boat will be in that same waters for many many many months. By then he'll become such a great trader that he will have an easy 7 figure account.

Why 2030? What will happen then where it will suddenly stop breaking records?
