Trading ES in a prop firm?

Discussion in 'Prop Firms' started by FranklySpeaking, Jan 27, 2007.

  1. Some of our out of towners have stayed a few months for around $600-$800 or so for apartments....a bit cheaper than NYC or Chicago I guess.

(obvious typo in my first message...not "slap" (although could be, LOL)...but "slab" - but you guys knew that)

Don, I have been trading market direction for 12 years. I have also traded pairs, volatility and other spreads. They are all the same. It's all psychological. One is not harder or easier then the other. For example, the guy that sells 5 delta verticals for .30 credits risking 9.70 makes money every month. He would most certainly agree with you that it's much easier to sell volatility the way he does vs having to make a call on the direction of the market. But when we have one sharp move that wipes out all of his yearly profits in one month and then the following month there is another sharp move that wipes out 50% of his account. The result is the same. Sure, for 11 months he got a free pass. But sooner or later, the piper comes a knocking and he wants to be paid.

You got it Don, Dinner is on me.

Yes, you are exactly correct. Foodstuffs are in general at prices today same as 30 years ago. Seasonal as you know play a major role in that. By "breakout and run" means both ways. :D

Stock prices, etc reflect a lot about the value of the currency used to make the purchase. As we all know just because a stock rises 10 $ or so is not to mean that ones purchasing power has risen by 10$ in Bloomingdales or at the local grocery store. Farmers pay retail to sell wholesale. Central bankers print wholesale to screw retail.

Go BEARS.......well things are looking better here in Michigan...temp is UP to 4. HA

Yo, Mr. Sellout. You already jumped off the Bears bandwagon. You can't get back on. As I recall you saying, "one and done". Go pick another team to root for. We don't need any more sellouts around here. Go root for your Wolverines.

    Maverick74,

Did you base your ES system on Mark Fisher's ACD method?
