Trading Curb

Discussion in 'Order Execution' started by dividend, Jul 26, 2007.

  1. What happens to the 60-70% of NYSE volume that is program trading when trading curb is enabled? Do the programs shift to NASDAQ or other exchanges?

  2. Good question. Does anybody on here have the answer? Commonsense would suggest they would.

The parent of Limewire is capable of 6400 executions in 10 seconds. They're NOT the big kid on the block.
  3. When the curbs are in, there will still be program trading going on. But they are only allowed to buy on the bid and sell on the ask.
A program trade is defined as:
    1. A basket of at least 15 S&P 500 stocks
    2. A basket of S&P 500 stocks exceeding 1 million in value!
