I hope you realize that cooler does not support your socket based on their website specs... http://www.gelidsolutions.com/products/index.php?lid=1&cid=8&id=66&tab=1 look at the following cooler... you will then be able to overclock that 3930K without any issues.. http://www.corsair.com/us/cpu-cooli...mm-extreme-performance-liquid-cpu-cooler.html
Probably overkill for trading... but looks like good quality stuff. However easy to convert it to a gamer machine if desired... just replace the FirePros with a couple of hot gamer video cards to run in SLI mode and beef up the PSU.
I'm sure they'll alert me, or make the necessary substitution, if a certain component isn't compatible. I wanted to keep the system as quiet as possible. I have no plans to overclock. I think air-cooled should be sufficient.
Thanks. Yeah, I agree it's overkill, but should be pretty nice. As of now I have no intention on using it for gaming. But yeah, if I do in the future, I would need more robust video cards.
I have the water cooler I suggested, it is quiet... I mean, really quiet... I cant say than that cooler you picked, but I cant even hear it...
Now that I have ordered the computer (build is completed, it's ready to ship - I should have it in about a week). I am now ready to add some monitors: I am currently using three Viewsonic 22" 1920x1080 monitors with a Planar stand. I am thinking I would like to go to six screens. I am currently leaning towards going with six Dell U2412m monitors (24" 1920x1200 res) with an Ergotech stand. Thoughts on this (yes, I have read every multi-monitor thread)? Or perhaps four 27" screens at 2560x1440 would be better? Any opinions are appreciated.
personally, I used to have 4x24 @ 1920x1200... vertical... I ended up with 2x27" and I got the same exact thing... but it all depends on what you are trading and how much you are watching... I am not watching lots of markets, just a few and I dont have tons of indicators (I actually really dont have any... )... if I was you, with your current setup... I would go with 2x27" and 2x24" .... why? simple... I would make the 24" vertical on the ends... so basically.. 24V+27+27+24V... I prefer ergotron stands (they are solid and will never tip, well ast least the triplex I picked... I would get this... http://www.ergotron.com/ProductsDetails/tabid/65/PRDID/128/language/en-US/Default.aspx it will support 2x27 without any issues and no need for stand for the ultrasharps from dell... the base they come with is adjustable enough and will go vertical. lastly, the way i determined what screen config was by making a list of what I was trading, needed to see, and then "drawing" it with powerpoint... that helped see how it would all play out given I wanted to minimize my neck movement and wanted everything within my field of vision.. my two cents of course... you can do whatever you want given it is your money and eyes as well..
