I downloaded it and all I found were two spreadsheets. Is there something more to it?

I hope you had a strong virus checker with all the updates running before you launched the things.

  3. I gotta agree with Brother Nitro... its even possible these days to inject jpeg pictures with viruses... a .exe file on a public forum is the Mother of No-No's...

  4. First of all, Vanilla, the correct word is "reek" as in to smell or stink.

"Wreak" you would use in phrases like "he wreaked havoc" or he "wreaked his revenge upon the poor dullard," and etc.

As for legitimacy, well, I guess we could debate that until forever. But let's see. Got your Ph.D? Worked for a hedge fund? Run systems? Have clients?

I am sorry that you posted too. No hard feelings. Best of luck to you with your trading.

More than anything else I hate wasting people's time. I hate it when people waste mine so I try to keep from doing that to others. So, I am sorry to have wasted even a minute of yours. I made an honest effort to write about systems in a way that might be of interest to beginning designers; it's kindergarten for people who already have even Tradestation, but I knew that going in. if it's not of interest to you, move on. Character assasination through this kind of remark is really boring.

  5. Wow. A post from the legend himself. Thanks Nitro.

I can see where extreme paranoia could run rampant, but come on, people, aren't we over-reacting a little?

First, the files are on the company website not on the board.

Second, what possible reason could I have for putting viruses out there in the first place, vis a vis point 1?

As I mentioned before, the executable is a pgp encrypted file. Created by PGP Desktop 6.5.8. I'd be happy to change it but don't really see the point.

  6. While it is possible to do so, I haven't.

If you don't want to trust me, don't.

I'd say the mother of no-no's is farting. Or streaking across the lawn. Or telling everybody all the wonderful things your girlfriend can do in bed. I.e. no class.

  7. well, i guess you could be said to "wreak" illegitimacy too. thanks for the spelling lesson.

i have no interest in character assassination, but when you call an interested party a wuss for questioning your use of an exe to disseminate a document, well... that deserved an appropriate response.

    take care.

ps - "streaking accross the lawn" - are you an uva alumnus?

  8. There should be two spreadsheets -- plus an e-book as a pdf file that that explains the spreadsheets and goes over a few basic things about trading systems. Hey it's not a great book, and only a first draft, but I thought it would be useful for the beginning designer.

Sometimes the PGP file unloads all the files into your temp folder -- I'm not sure why this is happens. But if you run the PGP file again, it should give you the option of saving things to another folder. Try this and if it doesn't work, give me a buzz.

pantherproject, with all respect, allow me to suggest:

A stranger is outside my door, so I call out to him from inside the house, "What do you want?" and he says, "I've got something helpful for you." Who wouldn't be hesitant opening their door and welcoming the stranger inside their home, regardless of the stranger's altruistic intent? The stranger's intent may be noble, but in this day and age, the manner he goes about it should then also avoid any suggestion of inappropriateness.

  10. GMS --

I hadn't thought about it that way, however, in spite of your helpful suggestion, I think I will stick to my guns.

Not because I don't see the merit of the argument, but rather because if I cave in to pressure like the above, what good will my word be then?

    Best,
