Bloom's Taxonomy is a suggested cognitive learning methodology scaling up towards creativity : http://thepeakperformancecenter.com...king/blooms-taxonomy/blooms-taxonomy-revised/
We got a vote for "No" ! Creativity : A phenomenon whereby something new and somehow valuable is formed. A few examples of creativity : A child created... 1. a paper boat for the first time. 2. a new design of paper boat for the first time in the collection. 3. a paper boat quickly for the first time. 4. a waterproof paper boat for the first time. 5. a painting on the paper boat for the first time. 6. the biggest/smallest paper boat for the first time in the collection. 7. the strongest paper boat for the first time in the collection. 8. the lightest paper boat for the first time in the collection. 9. more number of paper boats within a duration for the first time. One may ask what is valuable about it. If it is valuable for that child then it "is" valuable. When a trader develops a strategy for the first time, or optimizes it for the first time, rectifies it for the first time, adopts it for the first time, succeeds or fails to make money for the first time, increases profit for the first time...... almost every day of a trader is creative. How come failing to make money be creative ? Edison will answer that.... Why we resist to believe that we are creative ? Because till today our education system gives top priority to our knowledge and not creativity. It tells us to know what has been created and forgets to ask us to create.
Non-sense thread. You think Soros, Stan Druckenmiller, PT Jones, or any market wizard were creative?! You don't need creativity to be a good trader, you need discipline and hard work. This is all you need, and 99% fail because this is already too much. So they will speak about creativity, imagination, emotions, art ... CM
Speak for yourself. We didn't get here from applying textbook knowledge. We used it as a foundation and developed something new for ourselves. Without a solid foundation based on proven principles, we'd all be floundering. It takes creativity to get to where we are, but we all started from the beginning, one step at a time. Occasionally, it's wise to look back to ensure the basics are followed to move forward.
Did Soros, Stan Druckenmiller or PT Jones ever said "You don't need creativity to be a good trader" ? Or are you official spokesperson for them ? Just trying to clarify, no offense.
100% agreed My constant question is which is the master and which is the servant ? Our education system is designed to make knowledge and analytical thinking the master and forget creativity. Proof : Already two voted for "No". I guess you would have read the post just above yours. This is the fundamental reason for 95% of traders failing to make money. The voting widget shows that majority of the Elitetrader community are creative oriented, something contrast to the world outside. Successful people are those who made creativity the master and knowledge & analytical thinking as servant.
Developing a trading strategy is a creative process. The art of imagination which we call as creativity, intuition, idea, etc is the highest intelligence exercised by humans. Analytical skill is two steps below creative thinking as per Bloom's Taxonomy which suggests that creativity is the master of all intelligence. All traders are basically creative people whether we accept the fact or not.
