Daytrader in the movies. "Paranormal Activity."
One of his lines, "I'm a daytrader!"

Guy has a nice house, student girlfriend , but a demon possessed one.

And if you saw the movie, you know what happens to him in the end!

Writer/director of the movie making a statement about the lifestyle of a "stereotypical" retail loner daytrader? Or just a plot device to help contain shooting costs in one house/set. Still, rare depiction of a daytrader "lifestyle" even though the character was a dumb doofus.

(if you are religious, or superstitious, i would recommend NOT seeing the movie. It may keep you awake at nights for a week ,and wondering about dark corners and such. maybe even depressed and worried about one's faith.)

  2. disagree. what is most important as a trader is what car you drive, where you live, how big your checking account is and how many expensive gifts you buy her. if all this checks out then she wouldnt give a shit if u piss on your monitors naked in your basement. vast majority of goldman guys make <200k = nothing left after taxes and rent

About zero. Odds are better that an asteroid will strike the Earth, killing us all, before you are going to find a trader girlfriend - that you would actually want to date/mate.

...in terms of social status... the well-rounded, hot, have-it-together, girlfriends/boyfriends... that have a family that actually cares about them... would NEVER give them away to someone who is full time "employed" trading. Nothing really says L-O-S-E-R more than an amateur, retail day trader.

Usually, it is the bait-and-switch. Engineers, which make excellent marriage material... get their preferred mates, and approval from parents... and then ditch their day jobs, later. You let yourself go... she lets herself go... and then you are miserable, or end up divorced.

I think the underlying theme of this thread is actually poignant because a good woman can really bring you up to another level. A bad one can take you for everything you are worth both tangible and intangible. This can really impact your trading/mental health, and your account balance. The same goes for peers/society in general to a degree.

Speaking of women specifically, the key to all of this is get to the point where sexual desire or personal insecurity (need for validation) is not driving your decisions. These are the two big problems for men. It isn't just about confidence, if you can be manipulated by sex then you are just as in trouble as the guy with no confidence and no game.

Do what you have to do to (I won't judge) to make sure you are not easily manipulated by sexual needs/desire, and that you can feel/tell introspectively when things are going bad for you in this area and you are losing control (and then initiate recovery actions).

What really trips a woman out is when their mind fucks (or body ones for that matter) do not seem to have any ability to get you to do what they want, yet you are obviously a straight, red blooded man. At this point you will drive them nuts, I guarantee it.

Then you just find the right one over time (I suggest waiting til 30+ on a generic basis). When the right one comes along and finds you damn near impossible to manipulate by standard (learned/acquired) female tactics, you will have a much healthier relationship to build on, it should really be "best friends with max benefits" if you are going the conventional marriage route.

This is great! Maybe some of you guys should write books about dating (with money awareness). :D

Better than a lot of the nonsense out there like that stuff from David Weber, PUA's and Don Steele books & seminars, aka where George Soldini went to before he went gym postal.
