Tradestation Software Question

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by torontoman, Jan 20, 2008.

  1. As I am getting Tradestation, I don't know whether to add GIG or just get a new computer. I can buy 4 gig of Ram. I presently have 1 gig. Tradestation says that 1 gig of RAM is fine, but EVERYONE I spoke to said you need at least 4 gig.

    I have a Dell Dimension 9150 (2 years old)

    Windows XP Professional

    I have Intel Pentium D 820 (2 8 GHZ) w/ dual core technology.

    1 GB Secure digital card

    Monitor 1280X1024 resolution

Video card 256 mb ATI hyper memory PCI-Express X16

Do you think that I should get a new computer or just add RAM.

    Thank you,

  2. 2GB is more than adequate.

  3. I use 2 gig as well, with four workspaces going on and 2 different platforms and works just fine!!

  4. 2G is ok but I suggest you add another G or wo. It helps.

The DELL is not bad but a faster machine is of course better. Spend a few bucks to get the best tools to trade.
Most Important are backup & redundancy - you should have backups and a PC running and ready to go if your main PC goes down. Other minor but important issues - your broker land line in case online goes down or data source not available etc.

2 Gig is sufficient .... its been my experience with being with TS for a cple years that the the video card is critical for optimal performance.
