I've been with tradestation for about 3 months and have had to jump over hurdles to get answers. In the course of three days I rec'd 14 different phone numbers to handle the same questions. It seems they have several bugs to work out being so new as a brokerage. I was in a trade the other day and my computer locked up so I called and he couldn't confirm my position - he said he had to go over each trade one by one and i would have to determine my own postion status. With several trades that day it took a while and since I was trading futures the volitility was a major concern - I just wanted to get flat. 10 minutes after we hung up he called back to tell me I was 8 contracts long and not flat and he actually put me on hold during the conversation. After speaking with two managers I was told that if orders are being called in while I am looking into my existing trade I might be put on hold. Asked if it was there policy to put clients on hold and both managaers kept telling me that if someone calls in an oprder while I'm requesting info on my existing position I might be put on hold. CAUTION

And, for an integrated trading package, we offer the ability to automatically execute your custom buy and sell rules (confirmation is optional) taking advantage of all avenues of execution with a per share pricing. For those that arenât ready to open brokerage accounts yet, weâve made subscriptions of TradeStation 6 available. An end-of-day Research Edition will also be made available shortly. ChartScanner/Workspace Assistant are not available in TradeStation 6, however RadarScreen and OptionStation functionality which is expected to be added in our next major release. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks, Janette Perez VP Sales TradeStation Securities
Why aren't chart scanner and workspace assistant available? I have TS2k and the lack of those items are what has kept me from going to TS6. How can you do multiple studies without these? That's my promary use of the product. Are there any plans to add it? I'd like to not have to deal with data maintenance, but not at the expense of losing these features.
I could follow Hitman's example and ramble on forever; however I do not type fast enough. I have that phone number for you; as soon as I find where I put it I will send it to you.
Jenette Perez Would you take the time to kindly respond to "jafjir57" immediately prior to your last post. I have sent my paperwork in to Tradestation but have not funded it as yet. We really need to know how to cancel and get flat if there is an internet outage. The stocks I trade are volatile, and must be able to determine position, especially if the internet crashes, in the middle of a series of trades. jafjir57 post leaves me with the impression that it's too much of a risk to trade with your firm. Your reply would be much appreciated.
How can a retail firm, like Tradestation, be able to charge less than a proprietary firm, like Echotrade?
TOPS is expected to release ehancements on May 18 that will improve the ability to view the status of an individual order and the true position of an account with reference to that particular order. In addition, since execution of the Futures markets will be integrated with the Order Bar in the next major release, there will be enhanced futures account management capabilities. It is not TradeStation Securities' policy to place any client on hold. However, in extreme cases a client may be asked to hold momentarily, and only to accept and execute live orders from other clients. In a future release of TradeStation, the Account Manager will fully reflect any trade-related charges, such as commissions, on a per trade basis in the Statistics Tab of the Account Manager. The only charges that will appear purely on the month-end statement are exchange/data fees and debit interest expense. Janette Perez VP Sales TradeStation Securities
Janette Perez If someone is requesting information about their own account in order to close their position - as jafjr57 described - is that not an order being called in - in that someone would have to evaluate their position in order to go flat - so why would someone elses's order take precedence? And since you are being paid per trade - if it is necessary to call in orders - should you not have enough people to take the calls - my point being that in order to answer your calls quickly - you are effectivley causing someone to lose money when you are putting them on hold, and they are therefore subsiding your company - since their loss is saving you hiring more people?
