Tradestation Historical CD Question

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by BrooksRimes, Sep 2, 2006.

  1. I have 2 Omega Research CDs from 1996 and 1997 each of which has up to 25 years of data on it.

I purchased these back in the late 90s when I owned TS 4.0.

Each has many OR.. folders, each of which has MASTER.DES, MASTER.IDX & MASTER.OMG files and other files.

Question: without owning Tradestation is there any way to extract this data into ASCII or TEXT files? (I'm guessing the question is probably 'no')

    Thanks in advance,

    Brooks

  2. I'm far from an expert, but the first thing I'd try is this: right click on some of the files and select "open with" from the menu. Then select notepad. If they are text files they'll open right up.

Many software producers use proprietary file extensions even though they're just plain old text files.

    Good luck.

  3. The files have a CMP extension (compressed?). They are not readable in Notepad. It shows up as mostly special characters.
