Hmm.. It works for you?! I'm seeing tons of people on TradestationWorld experiencing the same problems. Maybe you didn't upgrade to 7.1 yet so there's no problem. Man, shouldn't have upgraded. Should have waited for all the bugs to get fixed before upgrading. haha. Not only that, if you go under Task Manager, TS is hogging up all the memeory and putting the CPU at 100% usage. what the heck?!
Either you are bsing or I envy you. haha. Cuz it's NOT working at all here!! I mean if you want to open a chart, then you have to shut down and relogin a few times. Then once the chart is open, the computer hangs. Still hanging. this sucks...
Having the same problems with TS using all system resources. Incredible that they would want us all to "update" when they have so many problems to fix.
Steve, fire up task manager and get the name of the process that is eating all those cycles. I'm sure that will be useful to the folks trying to figure this out. Meanwhile, I'm going to bed .
Right now, my CPU is at 100% usage. Let me list the process that uses the most: ORCAL.exe CPU = 73 Mem Usage is over 521M! and increasing as I write this. Soon, it will take up everything. I have 768MB system. wtf?! Yep, it just happened. Now, it's paging and using 1.3GB of mem and that's why my HD is thrashing. CPU back up to 100% again. It temporarily dipped to 98%.
Tgregg: Opened Task Manager and found nothing out of order. Of course its Saturday night at 9:48PM on the west coast, no real stress on the system from market volume. CPU usage is low, Mem Usage within decent parameters (highest usage is ORDIHst.exe at 22,416K, followed by ORCAL.exe at 14,024K. I'm not qualified as a computer tech, but these seem pretty low. Wish I had been able to check out the system performance during friday's open. Unfortunately, I was so damn angry I just closed shop and wrote off the day. I'll be interested to see what the response is, (if there is one) from Tradestation on Monday. Best Regards, Steve46
that's weird. Because as of now, I can't use TS7.1 at all. And I'm reading that others are having that same problem. Maybe it's a virus?? But NO OTHER applications I'm running have that problem. NONE. Only when I load TS does I have this 100% cpu usage and 1.3GB mem usage. hmm...
Misc..... TradeStation might be working on their servers at that time of night. Could be off for that reason alone. Try now, they are working for me. I ran my virus programs with a special one for the TradeStation folders. Then I did a system restore to the day before and that seemed to make it run correctly. I am no computer genius, so I can only give you a simple fix to try.
I've had no problems with 7.1 on Win2k (other than the lagging data problem that this thread began with), but I did notice discussion of problems involving excessive CPU usage etc. on the TSWorld site in the 7.1 support area. I seem to recall that a manual fix was provided, and that it MAY have had to do with incomplete uninstall of prior versions. The problem was supposed to have been resolved in the latest 7.1 "builds" - are you sure you're truly up to date? You might also try backing up all your unique work - work areas, EL, etc. - then fully uninstalling the program, even Registry items if (and only if) you're comfortable working with the Registry - and then re-installing the program from the website. If you can't find what you need at TSWorld, and the other alternatives don't work for you or you don't want to try them, you should be able to reach software support later today.
