Tradestation ES data

Discussion in 'Data Sets and Feeds' started by vanilla2, May 30, 2003.

  1. So, can it be used for an automated trading of a portfolio of systems? I have designed a few over the last several months and would like to go live trading them automatically. Can TS be trusted? I mean the systems for ES trading.

  2. as a professional trader, it's great to know you have a rock solid professional platform that will always be there for you and your positions, especially when news hits the market and things go a little crazy. cheers.

    nice insane laugh !!!

today was my first day of system automation. thankfully a minor bug in my code mean't I did not take my first signal for the day. I would not have been able to get out correctly what with the tradestation network crashing and the hussein sons slain.

at least you do have a message pop up to say things are wrong. could do with being a bit quicker coming though.

  4. I have question for all you TS users. Is the platform fully automated in a sense where you write the code and the system performs the executions or do you just get the pop up message when a rule is fired?
Thinking about using them for ES only in the near future and just monitoring while trading SPY discretionary.

    Thanks.

You can use it either way. Either with confirm first or execute without confirming.

By the way, TS has been awful today. I just got kicked off and cant get back on.

  6. i would seriously reconsider going with TS if youre not already committed. As a beginner platform it was really good, I basically used it as a sort of textbook, reading the EL for all the functions and strategies, but I've outgrown it's functionality in a big way lately, and reliability during big moves is really bad.

expect to get stuck in a position with a lock solid frozen TS and a crashed pc about once every two months or so, and expect to miss execution levels about once a week due to data latency if you're automating an intraday strategy.

this platform needs a few more years of hard core evolution before i could personally call it a professional grade product. Or .. it should be priced 1/3 to 1/2 lower than it currently is to be a decent value.

  7. Thank you for the info. I am not committed yet. I`ll be shopping around some more for fully automated platforms. If anybody has suggestions feel free to share.

    Thank you.

  10. indahook,

Personally, I don't recommend you opening a brokerage account at Tradestation and automate your trades. I'm using TS as my charting/analysis program and IB as my broker. TS platform and data network have VERY SERIOUS problems and they pop up especially when the market moves fast.

Tradestation reps, please correct me if I'm writing something incorrect here.

    Chinook.
