I just wondering if anybody who live in nearby area (or anybody in general) experienced similar problem. I have TradeStation2000i with real-time data feed from PC Quotes Internet provider: Cox (cable) broker: IB I leave in Rhode Island both programs in one computer in the past several months I experience constant disconnects from data feed on TradeStation and IB in the same time each disconnect in average 1--3 minutes sometimes up to 10 (but it's very very rare). In average one disconnect every 15 minutes IB loose connection and then it gets re-established. TS does not close connection PCQ Window stay green . Data simply stop and when it comeback usually three minutes of data get distributed in one minute. If disconnect longer data lost for this 10 minutes. TS technical support could not help with anything because they say it is not TradeStation problem. PCQuote say our data work fine it Internet problem. Cox could not found anything wrong. (Technicians was here at least five times and replace anything can be replaced) so I really have nowhere to turn and no idea what to do .
Mishka, If IB and PCQuote both get disconnected then that implies that there may not neccessarily be a problem with those vendors. There is either a problem with: a) Your equipment (networkingor ISP or PC) b) Your service provider c) A host in the network route between you and PCQuote/IB. When there is an outage you could try to use 'tracert' which comes with windows to trace the route between you and the remote site. The listing should identify if there is a problem with a host in the route and you can tell your ISP to try to get the problem resolved. Hope this helps. Regards, Splat
BTW I have not used PCQuote and dont know what you mean when you say that PCQuote stays green, but if it means what I think - that the link is OK - it may not mean it is. The PCQuote SW timeout just may not be hit for it to think the link is dead and to turn 'bad' colour.
I have a similiar problem with Comcast and IB. I get disconnected for a few seconds and then reconnected. This started happening after Comcast took over the network (from @home).
This happens to me too, when my ISP changes my IP address - it's dynamic, not static, so every few hours they switch it
Jaba122: It is very unusual for an ISP to kick off users to change dynamic addresses. A dynamic address is normally active during the life of a session, usually until you decide to terminate it. Static IP addresses will be active until your account is active with the ISP. At least that is how it works here in the UK. However I would suggest you contact your ISp to find out their procedures and rules. Regards, Splat
hmmm... you might be right, although I checked, and my IP does change during the session. I'm on DSL, not a dialup, if that helps, so the modem is constantly turned on. I'm no expert though. It's pretty interesting... I'll be trying to figure out some more. Jaba
I'm on DSL too. My address only changes if I disconnect (or if my session is terminated - which has happened very occasionally). I am allocated a different IP address when I reconnect.
after finally figure out most likely source this problem (with help of my friends) I just surprise nobody else have this kind problems or substantial packet loss date for TradeStation . now even IB stay connected ALL day without single disconnects well you probably lucky people. Not like me
