and for you traders across the pond, living on the islands, who still haven't been conquered by those ethnocentric, inbred , arrogant British www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1ayHYwMtJo

Well im a musician myself, armed with a abrsm merit in piano/theory, reading Score sheets to composing to performing arts. Though I listen to all kinds of music, i guess some parts of trading is similar to music itsself... 1. There r rules in both music and trading 2. There's some amt of difficulty or learning curve. 3. It takes some talent... or interest in the specific skill set. ie months you took to understand and trade options vs months you took to finish understand all the scales... some ppl just can't see the end. 4. After you understand the basic principles of music, you are only at step 1. Now think about how you go further - you can fit into a rock band, a composer of Asian pop music, accompanying pianist on stage with an orchr., solo, or just being a plain teacher. Thats akin to starting your own futures prop, managing opm, asset allocation quantly, and etc. I hope this helps.. alittle.
well, when it comes to drinking tea with the queen you could probably teach me a thing or two about manners. Our idea of a tea party is dressing up like Indians and tossing it into the bay because we don't like the tax. (requires a totally different set of manners.) You have your Beatles, we have our Chuck Berry. I suppose in a contest the Beatles probably had better manners. I should start a new thread, "Traders Who Like Manners"
no kidding, especially the part about the prop firm. When it comes to music, very few actually make a living doing it. Most require some related business, like you say, teaching, selling instruments or technology, seminars and the like. Trading and playing (or writing) are very similar. It isn't until you try it that you understand just how severe the problems are. Trading is about making a days pay. Music is about trying to occupy a listeners mind for a period of time. Usually 3 minutes and you are doing good. The average attention span is 42 munutes. It takes a hell of a lot of talent to occupy a listeners mind for 42 minutes. (it helps if you have dancing girls and can tell jokes.)
