Here's my current setup. http://www.modeblue.com/ScreenShotThreeScreen.jpg I pasted together my dual screen and single screen machines for the image. The software is REDI+ and a custom program I am working on. The custom program sends orders into REDI+ and uses RealTick servers (TAL) for its data feed.
since screen involve chart set up you could go here for all kind of chart set up http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/Favorites.CServlet?obj=public&cmd=show&disp=RED
Thanks for the Snag It suggestion. Here is my three-monitor screen shot from today. You will need to scroll right (and probably up and down). I use 3 17" LCDs with a Matrox card at 1280x1024 each. Too big to attach; here is the link to see it: http://www.transactual.com/pix/screen.gif -- Dave
If you're going to post my setup, you might as well use the current one: http://www.ttrader.com/dereksas/workspace.jpg Also, I thought this thread was about screen layouts. I posted this elsewhere, but it probably applies to this thread too. I did it when I was first trying out TradeStation (after suffering with various toys for a while), and today I have other workspaces, but a lot of this has survived..... This is how I have my 3 monitors arranged in Windows along with the area occupied by TradeStation: http://www.ttrader.com/dereksas/tradestation/ts-mon-config.gif Monitor 1: http://www.ttrader.com/dereksas/tradestation/ts-mon1.gif 1. The "open" area outside of the TradeStation space where I do work (day job) during the day...email, Word, Excel, whatever. 2. Major Index charts 3. On Pace popup with Advance/Decline 4. MS Chat window Monitor 2: http://www.ttrader.com/dereksas/tradestation/ts-mon2.gif 1. My "Fixate Area" . This is where I would put the ticker I am currently watching for a trade (entry/exit), arranged so that everything is nearby. I've often wished that I could see various timeframes at a glance without bringing things up separately (bigcharts, or wherever) and now I can do that. Behind the daily and 60-min charts in the upper-right is the T&S window, with a piece visible so that I can bring it forward with a click. 2. TradeStation graphically depicts any open positions here. The bar tells you how much you are currently up or down, as well as how much you have been up (or down). Any positions here can be acted on directly with a right click menu (close imidiately, populate order entry area, etc.). I pasted this in from another graphic. 3. My Level 1 grid. If I fill the grid with tickers, it will become a scrolling list. Or, I can make multiple pages to flip between different lists, or have different views. 4. Account Management Area 5. More Indexes and market guages. I usually watch MSFT and INTC (the two biggest Naz components by weight) just to get a feel for how things are going, but I sometimes change these depending on what I am trading. I don't think I've ever actually traded MSFT or INTC . Monitor 3: http://www.ttrader.com/dereksas/tradestation/ts-mon3.gif 1. QQQ area. I also tend to "fixate" on the QQQ as a market guage, since most of the stocks I trade are Nasdaq techs. I show here many different timeframes, but I may decide later to cut this down and free up the space for more charts. I haven't decided yet. Here again, I don't think I've ever actually traded QQQ...I tend to prefer a more volitile "proxy" that will generally move with the market in bigger swings. 2. Misc. Charts. I would put here any tickers that I decide to watch that day but can easily change them on the fly if I want. One other thing about TradeStation... What I show here is a single Worskspace called "Trade". If I wanted to watch more tickers or have different views, I can flip to them easily by clicking on a different workspace. If you look again at Monitor 1, the bottom right of that monitor shows the tab "Trade". If I had other workspaces I could add them here, and then flip to them instantly by clicking on another tab. This is the only workspace I've designed since getting the new monitor, and I may very well have more eventually... --Derek
I just try to give Jp some idea hopefully some setup will be of help to him, personally I think each setup is unique and work for that individual only.
