  3. I am an American who is new to Vancouver. Will be here until the end of year. Looking to meet up with Vancouver-based traders to talk about trading or grab a beer or just hang out.

Please send a PM if you are interested or any info regarding Vancouver get togethers.

    Greetings!

I've arrived in BC (about a month ago). I'm currently living in Whistler, but would like to move to Kitsilano. Anyone living around there or better yet anyone own property there and would like to rent a 2 BR suite?

All ideas/suggestions welcome in regards to living in and around Vancouver.

    Thanks

  5. Ozzy, I would think buying a house/condo would be a great first step. The housing prices always seem to go up there, it's like you can't lose. We had some friends that moved to Vic. Island last year. They like the place but the houses are a fortune.
So unless you are selling a house in Bridle Path or Rosedale, it could be quite a financial burden.

Last year we stayed at the Pan Pacific downtown. Nice place. I think EA Sports has an office right there too. :)
I'm partial to the water. Something we don't have in Colorado. (and we don't have nearly the culture of Vancouver, unless you think culture comes from Pottery Barn).

We only stayed for 4 days, but it was amazing. I really liked the downtown area. Not sure what it's like living there, but we did manage to walk everwhere. There's a China town area and some really nice places to eat. There also seemed to be a Starbucks on every corner. And we managed to find a couple Tim Horton's. (I ate a 20 pack every day I was there - had to get my fill while I could)

I liked downtown Vancouver, but that's from a tourist viewpoint. Oh yeah, there where plenty of hot chicks too.

    :D

If I remember correctly, White Rock and Surrey are fine if you're looking for a family type of place.

Vancouver and the surrounding area is an excellent area to live, but I don't think I'll be buying a house here in the near future. After blowing a ridiculous (1M+ now) amount of money over the last 1.5 years my only option is to rent.

P.S i'm still licking my wounds.

Some areas of Vancouver and surrounding have some pretty nutty valuations, North Van for example is one of the places that tends to get mentioned when "Canada" and "real estate bubble" are mentioned in the same sentence.

    As for me, Edmonton.
