I concur. Proper diet is essential to anyone's health, and last thing add person needs is a sugar high :eek: I follow a course of high quality protein, mostly green veggies with limited on the strarchy-sugary root type (potatoes, carrots..) then lentils, whole grains, and fruit, in that order. I'm not big on drugs, but that is a personal choice carefully made with one's doctor. Therapy can be helpful, again it's an individual matter. I'd say if you feel you need it, just take care to incorporate as a tool, not a crutch. One may wish to expand spiritually as well, whatever that means to you. I used to blame my choices on the add, then came to terms that the add can accentuate existing traits, not cause them. I'm much more empathetic nowadays, much less selfish, greedy or materialistic. I started getting my personal foibles in check in the nick of time, I was on the verge of people seeing me as a user or airhead. I'm still mending a few fences, and may have lost a few people who reached their limit with me, but I am doing much better now. My stock trading is more reasonable, and I no longer panic if a perceived opportunity is outside my reach, or spend-borrow money I shouldn't. With healthier mind and body, employing my pda to keep track of plans, keeping a journal etc, my focus is improved and I treat myself, as well as others, with respect and due diligence. The add can be controlled, attitude and education play key roles.

Great recommendations guys, I've been reading up on food plans for Add & overall health. Can't say I'll give up dairy, but use in moderation. Or grains, but have cut out the simple carbs: Was shocked to see how many in a pasta dinner when the garlic bread & noodles are both made from white flour! Last night I fixed up whole grain ziti with marinara and low fat cheese. NO bread, green vegetable on the side. Was great, didn't miss a thing! 'Cept for a blood sugar jump then crash! ActionTrader, my relationships have suffered too. I've missed lots of appointments, dates & stuff with forgetfulness or my mind going off to another subject. People get annoyed when I space out or plain angry, deservedly so. Hasn't made me appear to be the best listener either. I've been known to waffle too, will look like I'm undecided on something, when really it's I am unsure of myself Aw man, it can be a vicious cycle. Add shortens attention span, I act like a tool, end up even less sure of myself. Same with trades. Yeah, I've borrowed $ to get in on something too. My thoughts may wonder, but I can be remarkedly focused if the right subject or stock. Can sit & read about it for hours. I'm with you at this fork in the road, to make real effort then I hope huge strides to improve all this. Tired of people lowering their opinion of me, doing idiotic stuff because I didn't slow down & do it all in a better way. It's hard to come out & say all this, has to be done though. I'm a good person deep down, but to be honest with oneself is only way to get better & be better.
Believe me, with modern medicine and the diet they ate back then, they would of lived to around 125... The people who are piggin' out on ice cream and cookies and getting fat as hell from it are driving up the medical costs in the USA. A lot of people can not afford to eat the diet mentioned above, so we all have to pay for the medical consequences... Obesity, Diabetes, Cancer, Arthritis, ect is all caused by the modern foods that man started eating within the last 10K years or so. Try getting fat on meat, fruit, veges, seeds and nuts. You can't. You can get real fat on ice cream, apple strudel bread, candy bars, beans and potatoes loaded with butter/sour cream. P.S. The only reason people live as long as they do now is because of modern medicine. Despite the lousy diets most of us eat.
Not just medicine ... I believe a large proportion is due to public health engineering and safety engineering. Clean water, food thats fit to eat, warmth, not as many miners.
You don't have to eliminate dairy, grains, etc, to avoid ice cream, cookies, apple strudel and so on. I'm not looking to argue or anything. To each his own, it's all good if the diet is healthy. I drink non fat milk, prepare a potato sliced with light coating of Olive Oil, seasoned and baked. I'll broil fish and pack it in a whole wheat pita topped with shredded cabbage, dab of dressing. I thought the whole grain ziti, tomato sauce and low fat cheese with greens on the side sounded like a great healthful meal too. My stand is not to avoid the foods on the 2nd part of your list, but consume in moderation. A glass of non fat milk here and there is a far cry from pigging out on ice cream. I do respect your choices, comes down to preference and what works for you. On costs, the healthier diet can actually be more economical. Aside from the fast food dollar menus (yuck) convenience comes with a high price. Financially and health wise. People who grap the bag of chips, donuts, frozen dinners and on, do not choose wisely, that's for sure. I do eat correctly, and I am physically fit.
im suprised a post about ADD can last so long, maybe you all dont have ADD you just don't pay attention to what u dont care about. Personnally my vocabulary has increased and my sentences have become more creative... too bad you wont find any of the words i now use in a regular dictionary, you are going to need one with the most updated slang and foul language. maybe i should put out a traders dictionary and replace have the english language with profanity

Is there any study on what a child is FED and ADHD rates ? Maybe we see ADHD teens and adults eating junk and make assumptions, The eating bit is a symptom of ADHD not a cause. ADHD does not fluctuate with ones life style. I wonder if you know the symptoms? Besides "lazyness". can you pin point the actual defitioncey in one word? AS for writing better and sentacnes, if that was your worry then maybe you were just bad at writing and too lazy to learn it ? I guess its more profitable to not medicate and make parents feel guilty and put them in a position to keep coming back. From there over enough sessions you can convince people that 1 % improvement is alot. After all, one who does not know what "normal"is can be told they are half way there when they are miles away. Cant say that is real either. that would be incorrect but that does not mean there is an issue that should be solved. Have you never had a lazy person walk in to your office thinking he has ADHD. Can you not see the difference ? Have you never had a obese person with bad eating habits come in your office? what is the average weight of your victims ? Seems like you have decided what is moraly right for peoples kids. It is always easy to justify not taking meds is moral. But the educated know that doing nothing is the same as doing something. one is not morally better. This is not your decision to make and there are some idea you just should not sell to people. Real or not, it helps them. So next time you want to stand up for a cause choose on that helps people not one that may or may not help people. go help the hungry or raise money to prove your point. And if you are really against these type of stimulants being used every day and want to take a stand, instead of targeting kids and potentially condemning them to life on the street. Walk in to a coffee shop and preach you cause. I guess you don't like to preach where you do not have authority, I guess the cause is not that important to you. Stop mettling in peoples affairs Even if they do not have it, if it helps them more then hurts them what is the right thing to do? Go back and survey those that came to you in their child hood. What have you done ? You need to fix this. A licence was entrusted to you to treat, not to practise a social experiment. Your survey will be skewed in your favour unless seek out those that cant respond cause they do not have an address. And again find a better cause while you sip your coffee to give you that edge you need. Work 14 hours a day manage a crew of 20 with your blood on the line without a drop of coffee of any stim.
