Actually, I first became acquainted with his work about twenty years ago when a friend (clinical) lent me a copy of A New Guide to Rational Living (updated a few years back). But given the level of irrationality at which Americans hold sex and sexual behavior, I'm not surprised at the number of books he's written on the subject.

  4. Free??? FREEDOM???

ummm... .... .... .... Well maybe in another thread...

But a simple thought would be true FREEDOM = Chaotic Order

  5. gann,

i am speaking here more of the freedom of the individual to make their own decisons without ANY directive, or by choosing to follow directive or not at any time. people, in general, are creatures of habit who follow. trading provides an opportunity to break out of this mold, however most can't handle the freedom. hence the rise of the guru trading culture.

  6. That definitely makes sense, your "freedom " post was excellent.

  7. I'd really like to answer to this but I have a problem grasping your nuiance of the term "directive" but...

Everyone and every action is based on some degree of "directive". For example, when you start trading, your directives are based on some social basis of money or winner/loser mentality. But this is something that has to be molded out of to a different degree, like trading well based on the person's "new directive".

"Real" FREEDOM does not exist in all planes of reality. Everything has it's boundaries, as long as it exists. It's a matter of which "directive" plane, you would place yourself in.

Maybe we can talk about this on some other occasion before we get into a "Chit Chat" kinda thread of what FREEDOM is....

Those interested in the subject would enjoy Douglas' first book since, depending on the focus, both you and surf are correct.

  9. yes, i agree. when i said directive, i should have clarified exactly what i meant--- directive from another, following orders type of directive. not the directive gann is speaking of.

  10. Real Freedom exists . Unfortunately, it only lasts till reality , with all kinds of boundaries, sets in.
