Correction. 7.5% return since mid March, forgot to allow for a cash withdrawal of 6% at the end of June. I was walking to shops thinking 1.5% didn't seem right, then it occured to me.
What about the dollar figures? That's much more interesting. Losing $25 won't cause anyone on ET problems, losing $25k on the other hand is significant for most. There are no homeless people nor billionaires here, so dollar figures are roughly comparable when it comes personal trading accounts (not OPM).
Curiosity killed the cat, generosity brought it back. Up just under 30k since March. I'm gonna celebrate (somehow) when I hit half mil on my account, bit to go yet. As mentioned, slow going atm.
Not much to report, disappointing results. Rewriting some order handling code due to how IB changed how orders expire. Adding some new things to attempt to take advantage of some liquidity. Week 42/52: 1,203
What % of that amount is your trading account? It's all relative. on how that "Good week" may be perceived. If you have a 5K trading account and ended the week with 18K...that's Excellent and Out of this world performance. If you have a 50K trading account...that's still pretty Awesome. If you have a 500K trading account...that's good, If you have a 1 million trading account...that's only a very small marginal gain.
I'm liquidity constrained just like almost everyone else. Percentages matter in testing but in real life it's all about the dollar amount. You cannot earn the same percentage with ever increasing account size. I can say I'm more risk tolerant than a hedge fund but I have quite strict risk metrics, combined DD should be around 16-17% - that should give you an indication. TLDR: Not going to talk about my account size, let's just say it's 6 figures.
Since when is 1.8% /week on a 1 mln dollar account a very small marginal gain ? Still pretty darn good, depending on other stats IMO. If consistent, that's close 100% non-compounded....
Look at it in context, I was down 13k just recently, therefore the 18k is not so significant. Technical, mostly daytrades but some overnight as well.
