I thought I would share my PNL for this week in the hope of inspiring others. I primarily trade spot euro & pound although I will venture into other instruments if I see opportunity. This week was a tough week for me in terms of market structure and I failed to catch the one large oversized winner (50+ ticks) I typically get on a weekly basis. As you can see I don't trade that big, around 5 lots. I have blocked out the deal reference and last 2 digits of my fills. you would be correct sir with the largest CFD broker in the world (IG). At present I have business and personal income from other sources which allows me to take advantage of spread betting here in the UK. I know I would get preferable fills using an ECN/MTF/Futures but at present I am enjoying being tax free, I wont be able to continue that for too much longer though.
I've read horror stories about spread betting firms. Basically you are not trading the underlying and making a bet. Allowing you to win consistently is not something they are interested in. Are you leaving the UK or something?
another one of the reasons I wanted to share my PNL was for the FX bashers and naysayers. yes the majority of traders lose trading FX but that's the same with all other asset classes. FX is marketed to the retail world and yes it is a shark tank imo but it's not impossible to make consistent money.
You are right to be wary of spread betting providers. The old days of blatant manipulation are over imo. I monitor spread prices across ECNs/MTFs and I have never found them to manipulate FX prices in the 5+ years I have had an account with them. I believe IG profile account holders and hedge consistent winning traders. I have no plans to leave the UK in the next 3 years, I have been advised though that spread betting may not be possible once it is your majority income.
I have an account with IG but I use it for my ISA and Stockbroking. Majority income? Well done. I've seen other people claim this on twitter, but never know whether to believe them. Whereabouts in London are you? I work in the City on Fleet Street near Temple.
everyone is a winning trader on twitter! yet to see a loser. I used to live in London but family caused me to move out to the countryside. I am now 1 hour train ride away. shoot me a pm if you want to coffee/beer and to talk trading.
