Don't be mad ese, jump in the ring if you want to hang around this thread. Sat out the election and started trading small to keep up with the index. Clients are gonna be pissed since I'm 1.8% below the SPY now. Might need to put on some size into the end of the year. Been using about 30% of capital except rare times when I dip into margin slightly. You could run this type of swing trading strat on billions of capital, if you had the ballz
Wimpy week; tailz fund now up 23.8% ytd vs. 26.5% for the SPY. Not even beta level performance at this point, totally unacceptable. I would get roasted for this if I worked at GS, MS, BAC or even Buffet. But hey, that weird guy Hugh Hendry got away with underperforming the index worse than this for yearz. But I'm going to be a Hedge Fund Master Trader! Could sure use a phat tail right now. One month left to catch that orange line.
Now that is awesome. Congrats. You remind me of the 3 market wizards I actually learned from, all stock pickers looking for accelerating growth in sales and earnings. They held their winners.
William O'Neil David Ryan Richard Driehaus And an honorable mention to Stanley Druckenmiller, who made the famous statement "capital preservation and home runs". While I never met these masters of money in person, their spirit touched me with their very words, written down by others. You don't need DMT to feel their presence, every time you think about pressing the wrong buttons on your screen!
Which stocks would you pick based on forward growth in sales and earnings and hold them for longer ? Any suggestions to stocks screener which is best for that purpose ?
It was the interview with David Ryan who believed relative strength was more important than accelerating fundementals, who got me looking at the 100%+ 12 month gainers instead of earnings, etc. Finviz.com has enough of a screener to get you started. Earlier this year it picked up APP, which I bought at the tip of that glorious cup & handle at ~$44, held it for a couple months and got out in the upper $70s. Now it's over $300, barely six months later. Same deal with SFM, NGVC, FTAI, and milder ones like ANET and ELF. Winners keep winning for quite a while. But screening for the fundamentals without the relative strength just produced nothing but duds. Not sure why.
