bad day for me. made a stupid mistake to take a trade, just to take a trade to kill time. basically didn't bother with the afternoon, as FOMC days are too volatile for me.
Haven't posted in awhile... +59 today +638 for the month of July.. 14 trades for the month 10 positive 3 negative 1 break even
Been an extremely good month for short vol trades. Got in when VIX was halfway down from the spike (16.5) in beginning of july. Still not sure wheter to dump all or keep position on
had by any standard a good july...but i had a margin increase that made me shift some strats and caused a lot of stress. i typically earn far more when there is more vol. my hope is when the fed backs off implicit market participation that a normal vol will reappear.
Month end for 07/13 No of Trades: 10 Wins: 7 Loss: 3 Avg Win: $74.50 Avg Loss: ($172.17) Total Profit: $5.00
-66 gross This is an absolutely terrible start to the month for me. It's one of those days I wish I didn't place a single trade. There was a big gap up and the market is in the same place it was three hours ago. I just got ripped up. Again, it was very frustrating because I thought I was going to have a great day. I was up an okay amount in the early morning. Just a little bit more of a push by my positions and it would have been a good day, but as has been happening, things just turned south. July Review: July sucked, but did give me a little bit of relief after a terrible June. July was a month of small losses and small wins. I could never really get that big winner. All month was spent with intraday P/L near break even as well as monthly P/L near break even. Again, my biggest problem was overtrading. I would just continue to push trades in order to try to make money only to take unecessary losses. When I did get into winners, I would add to them only to see them come back on me and have a small to medium win turn into a full size loser. I saw very few of my trades trend and continue for good rides. Possibly, I've been expecting too much and/or been too greedy. Maybe my month would have been very different if I had taken numerous $20-30 winners instead of waiting for that $150 winner that never happened. Many of those little winners turned into losers. My system of trading is in a bit of a state of confusion, but one thing I do know is that I need to take less trades. July 2013: P/L: +27.59 Net Win%: 43.66 AvgW/AvgL: 1.35 My win percentage was acceptable. I would be just fine with a win percentage above 40%. Of course, that means that I need an average win to loss ratio that is much greater. I would really like it to be around 2.00 or higher.
