Couldn't go long for the life of me today. Got 1 trade in (UNXL short), but should have been a bit more aggressive with orders - oh well, 20/20 hindsight. Up $59
On the one hand, you must be a lucky genius. On the other hand, considering the size of your account, probably not.
I have the same problem. I looked over many of my trades and found that just trailing a wide stop would have beaten my manual exits by a factor of 7 (!). It's hard to let the open profits retrace, but it's OK to be in The Market when it's going up.
I just get back to trading. And I'm not full time. When I'm wrong with the market, I just keep some small losses. Then make a killing on the few days...
I probably should have done my normal thing and not trade on the day before a holiday weekend. -14 Net What a disappointing week this has been. It was a terrible finish to the month for me. I was net positive for the month prior to this week and am now negative for March. I am building a base to my trading system, but still have some adjustments to make and some fine tuning of certain rules and details. I have improved a lot in taking good setups and avoiding random trades outside of my system. Still, I need to better qualify my stock selection to increase my odds of winning trades. This week was tough as most of my trades went my way for a little bit, but eventually u-turned and stopped me out or took back all the profits. Maybe that is what I should just expect on slow, choppy weeks, but I think I will do something to better protect myself. The good news is that I was still able to control my losses. Again, I never let one trade or day hurt me too badly. Monday is a new month and I am ready to start fresh. I've got that positive month coming soon. It's just a matter of time. March: P/L: -37.06 Net Win %: 39.68 Avg W/L: 1.34
I did one dicey short on LNG on what was probably a short squeeze. There was a lot of skullduggery and window dressing today as predicted, which made for some real sloppiness. I took profits and called it a day early. Up $123
Totals for the month by symbol. I don't trade a lot of shares - I try to make the trades count. Overall, its been a good month in terms of meeting goals and improving my skills. I will be aiming for more shares next month - number/frequency of trades depends on market conditions and parameters of my strategy.
q1 2013 stats jan was my best month feb was nearly flat pl march was pretty good too. but i am struggling like most due to lack of volatility. 6k of my march gain was from equity basket going up with the rest of market. nearly all my gains ytd are swing trades. new to me was trading euro stoxx 50 as it was far more volatile than usa on that little greek island mess.
