I remind everyone there are plenty of threads in the Retail Firms forum if you would like to discuss margin requirements, software, fees, etc. As things can quickly get off-topic please keep this thread focused on trading blotters. Thanks.
Bad morning. Lost $185 on 10 trades. Tried to trade as soon as I woke up from bed. Started out with a $100 lost with 2 trades and spent the rest of the morning trying to make it back, but wasn't following my rules. The one trade I made that was based on following my rule had me at a $150 profit from low to high. Lesson learned again: Never trade when you are still groggy. From now on I am creating a "do not trade for one hr" after waking up rule. My account is blown out again but will deposit another 200 later today and try again tomorrow.
It's an ok day... It is very tough to be stopped out for -$250 on AMZN and literally within 10 minutes, the darn thing went in the direction of my trade for +$300 (a turnaround of $550). It was when they released the fed statements. ouch! I learned my lesson on following stops, so if the same thing happened, I would do it again. In fairness, I had a deadline to close the trade before the fed-speak, anyway, because I was afraid of what he was going to say. All my whining really has no substance, unless I was planning to gamble big. Apologies for the rant... I'm just glad I didn't hesitate putting a play on X puts even after taking the loss on the trade. EUR/USD crashed (check), OIL down (check), treasuries down (check), market in a free-fall (check). Buy at the ask and hold.
Have only traded a few days the last couple of weeks. Moving to a new city. Picked up some Bernanke Bucks today. Held a loser too long a couple weeks ago. And picked up a quick $60 on the NQ in the last few minutes of the afternoon yesterday as soon as the cable guy left. July 8th - $410 July 20th + $60 July 21st + $320
Doing better than yesterday. Today I decided to say screw it to trading pre-market hours and gotten some sleep. I will say my discipline is a lot better. Up $60 from $705 on 2 trades this morning. Both trades were on the long side. - 1st trade was up 45 dollar. Got out half-way on the move due to nervousness. - 2nd trade got out at 15 dollar. Again due to nervousness and the move started immediately after I exited. This was around the middle of the uptrend. I supposed I am still a little upset from yesterday's loss. There were multiple other good setups that I saw but hesitated to enter due to doubt. I need to stop worrying about the risk and just dive in if I see something good and put in a reasonable stop. Gonna call it a day. The market is probably gonna consolidate for the rest of the day and the risk/reward ratio is too high at this pt for me to continue trading. Tomorrow is another day.
Down just $5 on 4 trades. Trying out a new strategy this morning. Discipline is getting better. 1st trade was a short but entered too early and stopped out at the exact high. Would have been a $100 profit. 2nd trade had a $50 profit but entered too early again. 3rd trade was a loss. Rules were followed. It happens. Nothing you can do about it but move on. 4th trade had a $75 profit but gave it all up at breakeven. Gonna take the rest of the day off and try again next week.
