Crazy day. could have been much better or worse depending on the time of day. -8466 for the day - 5534 for the week + 15632 for the month
Good day today: +$4,401 net Want to quickly mention a disaster (for me) that I had last week on Wednesday (after a week I can finally talk about it - lol). The day was progressing well but then, just before the coordinated rate cuts hit the tape, a computer error meant that I sent a large batch of orders with the wrong limit price (offering stock too low). This, combined with a giant spike as the news hit, meant that I was suddenly offside $32k which for me is massive. With a dash of 'luck', I closed out the trades for a $24k loss and finished the day down $21k or so. Just to add salt to the wound, I calculated that if the algorithm had been working correctly, I actually would have made good money instead of having my face ripped off. I only really mention this as a reality check for myself and others. I am miles from the best or biggest or best trader on these boards but I was getting reasonably consistent and October was in-line to be my best month ever. However, it will now be back to an average month, and that's if the next couple weeks are ok. I think this thread is great but I guess it should also reflect the risks involved and I need to remind myself that even a few moments lacking concentration can cost you weeks or even months of hard-earned profits. PS - Lescor - congrats. That's really amazing!
I've really run out of superlatives to describe this market and the cash it's dropping in my lap. My best day ever is followed by my second best day ever. To put it in perspective, yesterday's total wasn't too far off my best year ever and today's total is within spitting distance of eclipsing last year's p/l total. Just to preempt the pm's, I trade stocks only and I'm not offering mentoring. Today rocked because I was long financials up the wazoo overnight and then got pretty short on the open and had the patience not to cover too soon. CBuster, I know how you feel man. I've had keystroke errors that have cost me huge. HUGE. Certain strategies, especially ones that fire off tons of orders, have the potential to knock you out if things get out of hand. Glad you managed it ok. The experience will strengthen you as a trader though.
