Really needed a day with authentic panic. Went extremely well and then did nothing last half of the day.
Fixed my ailments from last week - figured out what I was doing wrong and the fix was simple - sounds stupid but i just stopped doing it. If i could write a book on trading its title would be "Trading is simple: Its idiots like ME that MAKE it complicated"......lol Hopefully i can stick to my own rules the rest of this month. Props to Szeven and Patrick of course and to Red_ink - nice number from Fridays loss. Cheers!!!!
First day of trading an advanced approach with ES. Been having our way with ER, little money machine but limited in max size. Helps to have had a wide-ranging, side-swinging type of day. Volatility is back, sure makes our job of wresting profits from the tape much easier. Long 1494 = trailed out 1500 Short 1496 = stopped 1498 Short 1506 = trailed out 1504 Short 1508 = trailed out 1502 Short 1500 = trailed out 1498 Long 1506 = trail stopped 1506 +12pts net ES, six rounds turns Usual trader mistakes involved. Away from screens for two minutes this morning, long signal flashed at 1500 = went above 1506. Returned from lunch in time to just miss filling long signal 1506 = popped 13.50 within 15min. Several other swings rolled both ways thru the afternoon, after I retired for the day. Objective is to average +2pts ES daily per contract over time. Even +1pt ES per day average is acceptable, both are not too difficult to achieve. Follow the charts, no bias, don't fade the tools, don't do anything stupid in between, add contract size. "Simple" as that
<i>"$0 commissions?! Who's your broker? </i> $4+ until I decide to lease membership at CME. If I were a frenetic scalper, it'd probably make a difference :>P
I had to go out of town for work, so any trading I do this week will be sporadic and light. I got into my hotel room with enough time to make a quick scalp before the end of the Japan morning session: net +900 yen (~$7.85)
Decided to trade the Japan afternoon session as well, and ended up with a net loss. I was too way too impatient on my winners and I set my stops tighter than my best judgement. If I keep up this low level of discipline I'm going to be heading back to the sim: net -2800 yen (~$24.44)
Seven round turns, -4pts net... done Never went more than +1pt per contract in black today. All trades went at least +1pt in favor before stopping out. Last three trades in sequence were long 1515 = stopped 1514 on a trail before printing 18+, short 1517 = stopped 18 on a trail before printing below 14 and finally long 1515 stopped at 1513 (low tick) near 1pm est before tape jerked upwards from there. Typical choppy session. Won't go down, so they rise in agony instead. +12pts yesterday, -4pts today... objective is +40pts monthly average. Part of that process includes digging small holes instead of bottomless pits intraday
