I realise I was anticipating to much , not controlling risk and letting my emotions get the better of me. So today I was determined to control all the above and wait for definite confirmation and place stops accordingly. Traded 1 contract on the ER a few times in the first hour and held one for 3 points. It was 100 times better Quote from Landis "I have noticed that there seems to be a preponderance of people on ET that try and play "pick the top". Unfortunately, in anticipating such an event to occur they fail to see the market CLEARLY anymore, only looking for things that help convince them that their opinion is indeed correct. They then make matters worse by averaging into their trade, which then clouds their ability to see the market CLEARLY, even further. One then winds up going through an extraordinary amount of pain, only to then cover their shorts way too early. It's a vicious cycle, and one that I try to avoid by not trying to put the blinders on and anticipate too much. ... In any event, I think that we have all been "there" and can agree that it's easier said than done." Here it is....
$-2,752 From now on I will cancel all orders before going out for lunch, no matter how far away from the market they are. And, before placing a trade I will ask myself, "Would an idiot do this?" If the answer is 'yes,' in the future I will not make the trade. What a disaster.
Today's P&L: about $2000 This week's total P&L: about $33,300 Monday: $24,000 Tuesday: $2500 Wed.: $1600 Thursday: $3200 Friday: $2000
July 9, 2007 $3,600.20 July 10, 2007 $2,241.77 July 11, 2007 $0.00 July 12, 2007 -$766.20 July 13, 2007 $14,384.34 TOTAL FOR WEEK $19,460.11 TOTAL YTD $49,230.68 This is REALIZED P&L. I do have two positions I'm still holding that are down and haven't been realized yet, which if I were to sell today would hit more for a 5K loss. I'm expecting those to turn around, but I will likely close them off next week, so expect those numbers to be included in next weeks numbers. Crossing my fingers!! Overall great week again, better than last week. If things keep going like this, I could hit 100K by year end. My goal this year was to take the 12.5K that I started with and double it. That has more than happened. I have pretty much exclusively switched over to trading options (95%). Seems to be where I am making money! This week will be interesting, especially with google earnings.
