For a fed day, this is awesome. _________ Ever since I decided to raise my profile by posting my numbers here, I've been getting a ton of PM's- mostly from guys who want me to teach them. Please don't be offended if I don't answer yours. It's not personal- there's just way too many, and I'm kind of overwhelmed. I should probably compose a FAQ and/or some form letter replies to recurring questions. The following part may sound arrogant, but I just have to speak my mind, as I always do: Here is a small sampling of the contents of my inbox. None of these are from anyone I know : "what indicators do you use"/ "can i ask how you trade. read the tape, or time&sales? or anything else?"/ "how do you determine likely market direction"/ "what riskto reward ratios do you use"/ "Any chance u would share some trading secrets? I would love to see how you do it or some type of methods!"/"what's your strategy?"/ "If you were to categorize your style, what would it be? Momentum, Buying pullbacks, Mean Reversion, Breakouts?"/ "what do you base your trades on? Do you read the tape or do you use technical setups?/ " Do you only trade stocks that have news on them that day?"/ "If you are a tape reader, then how do you trade the nasdaq and the spyders???" ...there's more. MUCH MUCH more, but I think you get the idea. Messaging such questions to someone like me is like hitting on a girl in a bar, and after a couple minutes, asking her: "Wanna fuck"? You need finesse to get laid! Didn't you guys see Wall Street? Bud Fox didn't 'bag the elephant' by just asking nicely a couple times- no! Bud did his homework, finding out all he could about the man. He found out exactly which hard-to-acquire items Gordon Gekko wanted, and then he delivered them. Gordon Gekko wanted a certain brand of embargoed Cuban cigars and illegal inside information. That's how you bag the elephant. I have no interest in cigars, illegal information, or anything I can walk in a store and buy myself. What does interest me? My thousands of posts here can give you a good idea of that. Promoting my cause is a big one. Getting an interview with someone like Mancow/Opie & Anthony, etc. to do so would put me in a sharing mood. Then there's always breathtakingly beautiful young Eastern European hotties. The Chicago area is a barren desert wasteland when it comes to hot women. How about (scalable!) recurring patterns in the market that I may have not noticed on my own? ("When X and Y happen, what usually happens next is Z...") That's just a couple ideas off the top of my head. I'm not going as far as asking anyone to do anything for me. I'm just saying, generally speaking, if you want to bag the elephant- that's how you do it. A couple months ago, I mentioned my website on here: www.prohibitionkills.blogspot.com I got a PM from a guy letting me know he has already acquired a better URL ( www.prohibition-kills.com ) and redirected the better URL to my site. He didn't immediately ask for anything at all in return. Finesse! Now THAT is how you put me in a generous, sharing mood! I'm not saying he did this to manipulate me in any way... just that if one did wish to manipulate me, that's exactly how you would do it! Now, this message may make me come off as kind of an asshole, but think about it- If YOU were in my situation, getting hundreds of nonstop requests from people who want you to teach them your trading methods- and you know for a fact that sharing these methods directly ruins their effectiveness and takes money out of your own pocket... Well, what would you do?
Rearden Metal - very good post. I can just imagine the amount of pm's you are getting from people to lazy to study the markets on their own. If I was you, I wouldn't share with anyone if that is going to take away from your profits. Or, there'd have to be some sort of deal struck - perhaps a profit sharing arrangement or something. Great posts Rearden!! Keep up the great work!
Fell off the discipline wagon early and ended up overtrading all day. Ended up -$600. Have to stick with what works instead of flailing away....
I have been reading a lot of the posts on this website. I have to tell you that it is some of the funniest reading material this side of the WWE. Who out there believes any of this crap. You can easily manipulate what you are showing. There is no way Stvardek is positive every day. That is a complete joke. I have been trading for seven years at 3 different firms and have NEVER, and I mean NEVER seen anyone put up numbers like that. It is impossible. Especially in August before the fed meeting. Give me a break. I will however give this gentleman 5k if he can prove his P&L to be true. My guess is that he can't and that he will hide under some lame excuse. I know Chris O'Gorman at Hold Brothers and i doubt he knows of this SUPER trader. Come to my office with your sheets and claim your 5K you shill. I dare you.
it's become so bad i don't even remember to copy my blotter not bad considering my struggles of late. +710
I would IMPLORE you to call O'Gorman and ask him about me. He sits 1 row away from my seat. If you are serious about just handing me 5K for showing you my #'s, just come up to 525 Washington Blvd in Jersey City and I will gladly bring you upstairs and you can see my personal account. We can even have Chris sit with us to verify if you'd like.
Jealousy gets you nowhere in life, just another loser that wishes he could pull off your numbers Steve.
i don't know about steve but some of these blotters are getting really funny. the markets up down reverse and flat as a pancake like yesterday and some of these guys are showing profits everyday. and here you got readern metal telling people to leave him alone yet he posts 20 notes a day and is on here all the time. IT MATTERS LITTLE BUT THIS IS NET LAND AND NEVER FORGET IT
