  3. If it is done... pathetic? Without question, absolutely.

Unfortunately, there is not much we can do about it. I'm sure that it is very possible a few newbies might pop up here using Sterling, and post impressive numbers. Does that mean we just dis-credit him or her? Does it mean that anyone using Sterling or Laser (In Laser, all you have to do is shut down the application, and turn it back on, and everything is like new on the demo), is lying about their numbers?

I mean, sure we could start posting account names and all that to prove what is what, but this discussion is going to be hurting the legit posters soon enough.

The more extremely clever people might start doing that, but just be photoshopping account names to make it look legit. I for one believe anyone with a good graphics editing tool is capable of doing that.... but there is no way to know.

So we have to deal with it. I said earlier, the thread is what it is, and that is a motivational tool and/or a record tracking tool for ET members. I don't see where anyone that posts fake numbers benefit. Maybe a very few benefits of faking #'s? Landing a job at a firm that looks on ET, maybe money managers, maybe will offer chat room services. All of it works out in the end, because no one benefits from the lying in the end, the frauds will get theirs in the end, the truthful will benefit from record keeping and motivation and appreciation.

I say, not make a big deal out of it, because when you start taking something like this way too seriously, that is when people come up with ways to abuse it, and you know what they say, no news is good news. Well all this discussion about the PnL thread is not doing it any good and probably providing frauds with motivation, and all that.

So honestly, what I suggest, is let it be. We question one person, then we question others, soon everyone is a fraud and we have fake names on ET vouching for others, it is very possible.

So let it be folks, it's done.... all the discussion just provides motivation for those that like to screw around to do more damage and will hurt the credible ones.

It's kinda like software protection systems and activation systems. Creates hell for the legit users, and isn't effective against the pirates.

Just figured I'd get all this out because I think it's just going to keep going on... and on.... and on, and no matter what, we can't do anything about it, so better to just let it be.

To sum it up in one sentence:
Don't feed the trolls, or in this case, the frauds or soon to be frauds, as that is all we are doing.

If they want to lie, cheat, fake, and all that other BS to try and feel important, let them do it, soon there will come the realization that the lies are not getting them any money and they are living a life of lies. The feelings will overwhelm them when they realize they are nothing.... Let it be....

There is my moment of seriousness and non-moderator moderation.

So, in hope that we can deviate from this and hopefully not provide people without lives the opprotunity to abuse the PnL thread, I will try to change the topic back to a question I asked earlier but got lost amidst all this discussion:

I still want to know how someone gets the opprotunity to trade on the NYSE floor and how that works and what is going to happen to floor traders once specialists go away? Maybe someone can answer that for me as I am interested in learning about floor traders..

Appreciate your time and hopefully people realize this discussion is pointless as we have no control over it.

Bashing implies unwarranted attacks which is not the case.
You went out of your way to post fake numbers to dupe ET members for a purpose that you still haven't explained.
This wasn't bashing - it was calling a spade a spade.

If you didn't care what anyone on this site thinks then you wouldn't have wasted your time creating fake blotters and posting BS P/L numbers - obviously you do care what people on this site think.

You were busted lying big-time, trying to play it off like its anyone else's problem but your own just makes it worse.
    Crawl back into your hole.

  5. the pnl thread is to be taken with a grain of salt but there are quite a few posters that can more or less be trusted ['till a cretain'point], like the swifties and some1 else i wont name here..of course u gotta question some of those fellas motivations but i dont think anyone really should look upon it as an inspiration, rather look at the most credible ones and use 'em as a referement for how the mkt mood is affectin' thier performance and yours as well...mostly to get an idea of the difficulty of the mkt on a given day or period. i never really doubted much those who post constant good numbers because i know for a FACT it can be done, it's realy no surprise to me.

  6. Anybody know if there is a correlation between A. calling people jerkoffs and gullible and B. being a washedup trader?

If you think about it, I believe you will come to the correct answer.

  7. I've only just discovered the Trader P/L thread after a few months of reading this site - and it has blown me away because I never would have imagined that such a thing would ever really exist: Screenshots of your daily p/l for the world to see - wow, only in America.

Here in Australia where I live we suffer from the "tall poppy" syndrome, a colonial relic that doesn't necessarily appreciate success like it does in the states. In America people usually say "well done" or "I wanna be like you" in Australia often it may be something like "showoff" or "every dog has it's day" or something like that. I am almost certain that Rupert Murdoch has completely severed ties with Australia (to the point of delisting News Corp from Australia) and make America his home to get away from such a mentality.

I think that most of the people here are genuinely posting real figures for different reasons; maybe to push themselves, inspire others, or to raise there "street cred". I am also thinking in the near future to get into the habit of posting my daily figures on that thread as well for those reasons mentioned. In my limited time here, I know for sure 2 or 3 ET posters who don't post there results (but are consistantly profitable) but the ones who do post (and are consistantly doing well) - they have my undivided respect because I know first hand the challenges that they face day in and out. People having $1000+ days consistently I feel are an excellent example of what is possible. Not only that, but there posts have MUCH more weight for me, it is irrefutable proof that they can not only talk the talk but can walk the walk.

    Good stuff everyone.

Before that thread existed there were daily posts asking if people actually made any money in this profession. Now when guys ask that you just point them to the thread. It can also serve as an inspiration to traders at every level (except maybe RM's level). Those are the reasons I choose to participate.
