MTM, 8.2k today, realized: 7.7k. Made a crummy trade with size right at the open, threw away almost 2k. Feels like my stuff is toning down a bit, I'd guess the bigger P/L numbers will taper off some. About 20 p/l lines didn't show up after re-log in at IB, so the screenshot is of P/L on open positions only.
those are some sweet numbers the last couple days. How long do you think you can keep those numbers up? anyway here is mine for 4 hours of work today.
We're two peas in a pod, mksummny. I've been taking lots of time off when the market isn't forking it over, but I hit it hard when it is. I handle leisure time much the same way as you. Money isn't all that important after a while, we can just "get our trade on" --when we'd like a couple extra dollars. The other ET'rs poke at you for taking time off, hitting the beach, spending time with family, but when you've made it....those are the things that truely count. If you're ever in Hawaii, look me up, we'll grab a beer and share war stories. I've done 3-5k/day for years....but the bigger numbers you're seein' on my P&L's...not sure, I haven't been trading hard in a while....so maybe this is the next level up for me- if I really want to go after it.
nicely said! I have been saying for awhile its not so much about the numbers anymore as the thrill. My wife and I have everything we could desire but trading is in my blood and I will never really leave it........ that does not mean that I do not like to make money. Everyone likes to do that, I just dont work for that reason anymore. that is why family time is so much more important to me than before I had a child. Your priorities change once you open your eyes and quit smelling the money. If I am ever in Hawaii (which part, you can PM me) I will be sure to look you up, and definitely drink that beer. Are you automated or is all of that manual? I am still doing manual inputs of orders even though I have had multiple offers to go automated. I just like doing it old school and relying on pure raw skill. Its like the guy who has a dodge dart that smokes the fool in the lamborghini, it just makes you grin.
It's definately about the "fix" -or the thrill, to be sure! Money is just keeping score these days. I'm a hybrid, and after much thought about full auto, no way,as I nail program after automated program that is in error, made 10's of K's hitting them (and most of the time they operate very well). I've got computer generated (but manually submitted), and manual discretionary trades. I'll PM ya the rest.
i've been trading full time since 1982 and been lurking on these boards for a while. i've trained at least 2000 traders over those years and i read in amusement mskully and especially mr nbbo. to sit here day in and day out mr nbbo and show some fictious stupid manipulated blotter is a joke. to say you're making 15-20k every day you post your blotter is bullshit. take for instance a day like today. i suppose you were long in the am and short in the afternoon right. bs thats a load of dung. to sit here and bs is a disservice to young traders just starting. you're giving them a false impression of trading. go read this months active trader article by the #1 trader accountant in the nation.ONLY 4% OF 1000 RETURNS HE DID IN 2004 FOR TRADERS MADE OVER 50K. and we got 2 guys on here making a million plus who happen to have enough time to interact several times a day on a net chat board and divulge personal financial info with complete strangers. cyber space is a wonderful place isn't it
What are you saying? So all these 2000 traders have been trained by the wrong person? And they should have contacted NNBO instead?
haters: makes this board feel more, uhhh, dirt-real. Like I've said before, who really cares if nbbo and mk are faking it - their stories are an inspiration; being able to take time off to spend w/ family is something for which to strive. They do not divulge "secret" formulas of trading, nor are they trying to sell anything, except maybe, the lifestyle (the idea on which I am sold, sign me up). There isn't a person on this board who doesn't take everyone else's comments with a grain of salt, however most of the time, we respect each others' stories. Jokers, haters, fakers - they always exist. How the rest of us use their information is where the difference is made between the believer and the inspired. ____________ I took 40 minutes off of my lunch break today to trade: $325, got lucky. LTBH's were down $80 or so. No blotter, too lazy. Don't tell me I'm faking those #'s!
Hey 40, How did the day end for you? Were you still short during the large sell-off? I think overriding the system, based on visual cues, is unlikely to do better than your system signals. Happy trading.
