  1. What does the total US stock market look like?

The Wilshire got cut approximately in half from the bubble highs to the October lows, around 7,400 point decline.

The fib work suggests the following:

38.2% Retracement from March 2000 Highs to October 2002 lows: 2826 points from low or
    a target of 10,168.25.

50.0% Retracement from March 2000 Highs to October 2002 lows: 3700 points from low or
    a target of 11,042.85.

61.8% Retracement from March 2000 Highs to October 2002 lows: 4573.2 points from low or
    a target of 11916.05.

A 50% bear market rally from the October lows is not unthinkable. The NIKKEI had a total of three 50% bear market rallies from a low in the decade of the 90's.
