Property Coverage for Riots, Vandalism, and Civil Commotion

    Physical Property Damage

Riot, civil commotion, and vandalism are covered perils under virtually all commercial property policies. They are covered causes of loss under both named perils and "all risk" policies.

That's not what the business owners are saying on the news.

also --- read it in their own words from LA...

Is looting covered by insurance? Depends on the business

One side of the story is not the whole story. Some people just want the insurance companies to just hand them a check for whatever they ask for and of course it doesn't work that way

If they had issues, then it is first degree murder.

So choose: racisme or first degree murder.

Okok, I’ll give you that, even though the other cops stood by and did nothing, accomplices. But then again some of the facts that career pointed out can be argued to show they are facts because of racism. Like the percentage of incarcerated. I know I know, trust me I know what your saying. But cops are more likely to arrest a black than a white for the same crime. Cmon that’s a fact jack. I also know first hand the racism that comes from the black community. Entitlement etc.

I believe that if they had prior issues then it is first degree murder... but the assertion regarding prior issues must be proven first.

There is still no definitive proof that racism played a role... but it is likely. Let's see what the court case brings out. I am willing to wait for the evidence... whether it is text messages or anything else that proves a pattern of racism from this officer. If the evidence exists then I certainly can be persuaded that racism played a role.

If the cops would not have murdered the man there would not have been any damage and no need for insurance. Riots were a result of the murder. Police should know that by now after so many murders and so many riots. Business owners should sue the police and the government, they are responsible for what happened.

About racism or not: 3 times more Black people are murdered then White. That might be an indication. And the US has a famous organization called Ku Klux Clan. That's not a charity organization.

You should read it from their own words. They aren't saying they are not covered or have been denied.Seems they haven't read their policies or filed a claim

He estimates that $300,000 worth of merchandise was stolen but believes all of it will be covered by his insurance, though he still needs to check with his lawyer.

“I hope it’s all covered” by insurance, Greenberg said. “I don’t see why we wouldn’t be.”

“We are insured, but I don’t know what we are covered for, and I don’t know whether we are covered for losses” in a civil disturbance, he said. “

Riots are unacceptable. Peaceful protest are acceptable.

Prior the 1960s in the U.S. the local police departments were civilly liable for damage caused by civil unrest. There are several examples when striking workers rioted (in the auto industry, etc.) where the cities were forced to pay business owners for the damages (at least this is my understanding).

Due to this, the way riots were handled in this earlier era was immediate application of deadly force and mass arrests. This included recruiting armed mercenaries from agencies such Pinkerton as well as the National Guard armed with machine guns to join in putting down rioters & protestors. There was none of this "deescalation".
