That's an interesting thought. In the early days of Java, some programmers had created de-compilers that effectively produced Java source code from Class files. I don't think there is something out there like that today though. And even if you had the Java source for TOS, it would still need pretty hefty modifications to support a different data feed.
This was very disappointing day.. They need to address this .. downtime is just completely unacceptable.. Maybe they should have an Amazon EC2 Setup ready to go for failback?
The future, hopefully, is a hostile takeover by a tech-savvy firm and the riddance of top Omaha vermin who took over TD Waterhouse and not the other way around, and I exclude that other Omaha jerk, who is far from a kind, old man and humanitarian; let's see what his kids say after he croaks...about him and their de facto disinheritance. Some members complain about brokers, but no one replied to my "Strictness of Regulators" thread. I believe the ultimate answer is only doing business with brokers regulated by a country stricter than the US about how clients are treated.
Anyone else get false Reg t call emails from TDA? I believe I have gotten 2 or 3 since the change. Even though I know they are false since I donât put myself in positions where I would get a call it still scares the crap out of me whenever I get the email (there is always the possibility of entering an unintended position or did not close something correctly). Not sure, but I think it might have something to do with their overnight cash sweep process. Just another thing to add the list.
Hey guys, did anyone have an issue with their forex quotes this morning? Their USD/JPY and USD/CHF are down over 15%, while the AUD/USD and USD/CAD are up around 5%. I don't trade forex but I use them to check the state of the markets. They are getting really unreliable. And I also got the notices too, although I am only 1/3 invested (short thru RWM) in my IRA? Since they hold the cash in a money market fund, I think they don't credit/debit the according balances automatically.
The sad thing is for my purposes for TDOS, if it wasn't for their horrid customer service in terms of letting folks know they're having problems WHEN THEY TRY TO ACCESS THEIR MONEY I think the platform is fine for my swing-trading / position-building purposes, though I miss having access to i-class mutual funds nowdays. I appreciate the all-in-one platform, charting, and the free Marketcast of Ben during the day. I did look around this weekend at a few other brokers, and none of them, in my view, really 'hooked' me as a viable alternative. That may change down the road, of course. That said, I am still quite livid at Friday's incident and how they (didn't) handle it in our eyes ... which is something that happened a few months earlier, too. Still no 'official' word, explanation, or apology for Friday -- but I'm not holding my breath, either.
Lately, I've been noticing very frequent updates to TOS--about every other day. It used to be every other months. Why so frequent updates?
