TOS is very bloated & sluggish. It also got bugged, crashing system reported then quietly fixed. I have spent considerable time to improve my system, running into bugs and what's not so I don't see any way to get around it besides helping yourself & your system to a tolerable point or move to a different platform. Things that you can do 1) Have 8GB memory and set TOS memory 2GB-6GB. 2) Have an Intel CPU instead of AMD CPU system. I have talked to the developer and he said it shouldn't be the issue but I have 2 identical TOS Chart setup, one w/ Intel i7 2.6GHz 8GB, GTX-970M consistently below 15% CPU usage and one w/ AMD Phenom 6x at 3.5GHz, 8GB, GTX-970, consistently in the range of 33-39% CPU usage. Each of them have one main window and 2 detached windows. Each window has 3 charts. The AMD is 2-3 time worse than the Intel setup. 3) Minimum indicators if you use it. My setup above use simple indicators I wrote to display ranges, high-low swing points w/ minimum resource usage. Try to eliminate charts & indicators then look at CPU usage to see which one causing the most problem then try to live w/o it. 4) Blank all default windows in TOS if you don't use it. Good luck to you.
I thought this was a normal problem? If I have 5-6 windows open it typically moves like a turtle. It's probably the best software available for the price, but they need to figure out the memory issues.
I hated TOS because it was so slow loading. The new Tastyworks platform is lightning fast. I'm glad I switched.
fact is, tos is not particularly slow once its up and running. and its sharing the box with two other platforms at the same time. on a 6 year old computer with 8 gig of ram maybe im just lucky ;0
Spoke too soon on the latest bugs they introduced. Still leaks like a bastard as day wears on. You'd think they would back out a botched update like this instead of making users suffer for a week. Too easy.
I hate the slow loading too, but there is a trick against it. Just never turn off the platform. Now against the memory usage, just use an older computer with less memory...
Latest answer from TOS: 'so I recommend that you go back to 2gb on the high end as we never want to allocate more than 1/4th of your total. I also recommend that we restart TOS every 2 hours. We should have some fixes for this as the problem is coming from our side of things. No estimation on this however' No ETA. Ouch.
Yes, crazy. Why they not roll back till they are able to fix the issue. We are the beta-tester. I guess till the weekend will nothing happen, if at all. No ETA means, they have no clue how to fix it.
