Interesting...as of 2 months ago, I rarely saw data problems with TOS Charts.I wonder if they are getting many new subscribers that are taxing their chart servers now ? I have a feeling that TOS Charts is using Interactive's COMSTOCK wholesale data service which has never been that fast or reliable.
Not sure as I haven't even bothered to look within the past week, but I know the ags were shit. I don't know if any of the contracts have good intraday charting to be honest. Just really spotty data. Great broker and all that, just the futs charting (actually just the data) reaaallly blows.
I noticed something odd last night. Just for the hell of it, I pulled up the TOS web trader app.... (Yes I know it was Friday night and markets were closed but there is still backfill) Freaking charts worked fine on the web based app...intraday data on grains, etc looked great. Exact same data on the TOS desktop platform was spotty. Wonder what would cause something like that?
Very strange indeed as I believe a lot of the code is shared between the web-based app and the standalone desktop....as that's one big advantage of using Java. I would contact linwoodma@thinkorswim.com - he's like a QA manager of sorts. I have a funny feeling this data problem is server-related and that means some clients are showing perfect charts, others are not. Tradestation, ESignal, Genesis, etc. all suffer from this same problem. Managing and controlling the chart and quote server farms is a complex and never-ending task. The best data services are quickly able to detect a problem server and switch those users connected to it immediately to a working server. You may want to pose this issue with Linwood.
