I have been checking doggette interview https://www.topsteptrader.com/users/doggette I am really impressed by the path she chose. If TST people read ET : could you please ask doggette if she'd be willing to be used for your front page advertisement. Those who I got to check her interview came to the same conclusion: a real trader, no BS.
I have read the thread. Doggette privacy is indeed very important. It is to TST all credit to fully respect it. I should have known better from my own personal experience! Having read the thread, TST is a good trader's bullshit detector. I am suspecting that if any trading coach had a stat of how many of the coachees pass the Combine and the LTP , then this coach would be really worth it.
That is a good thread, for the weekend reader, one should start to read it from post #126, that is where it gets interesting.... Hoag's response: "Each individual account is a sub-account of the master account which has substantial capital in it. In terms of the balance being $0 - yes that is true.We saw how traders performed when they came onto an account and got starry-eyed seeing high balances. It gave performance anxiety. We learned that lesson and approach everything as risk. It’s not the size of the account, but how much you can trade, build your balance slowly and surely, and the rest will take care of itself. " Call me stupid, but just how big of an account one needs to trade 1-3 contracts???(starting size for every Live trader) But his last words are very true for a self backed trader too, "It’s not the size of the account, but how much you can trade, build your balance slowly and surely, So tell me again, why do I need TST unless I am a 10 year old from rural China? Their newest funded trader:
For one : well done to this Chinese. Now why one would need TST ? I can see some benefits : - one can walk into a prop and negotiate more easily for substantial backing, as it is starting to get known that TST demands strict loss controls ( day limits). - I would even say, for those who have "experiences" in trading, the badge TST would allow to get in or back into some trading firms very easily due to the evidence. - One can negotiate the position size increments Seriously, TST does open doors. Even better for myself TST enters into my long term plans: as once I have managed to get their fundings, then I can hire ( aka pay salary straight) for others to trade my methods and its variations and capitalise. Ideally : 10 people trading 150k for TST that work for me would be a good starting outcome. As I understand a bit more about trading psychology/spirituality, as I have my methods, as I know where to get these people, TST offers a cost effective way to build this ( 4000$ for 10 people is cost effective). So for me TST is a good offer. But first the goal is to get myself through it.
I dont know about you guys but I trade A LOT better using TST's account then on my own. Because I have to follow the rules. On my account I would always try to "make it back" on a bad day and it always ended up in a big loss. I def need more discipline and I believe TST is a big help. So even having the money to use my own account, I will preffer 80/20 split because I will still be making more then 100% on my own.
So guymm is pissed because he broke the known rules in a live account and they kicked him to the curb ?
Remember, 100% of ZERO is still, well, ZERO. They could offer a weekend car rental on a Ferrari, the incentive doesn't matter. Until traders fully comprehend the EQUITY issue, nothing will change. Yes, I know about all the opinions regarding "edge", it's been beaten to a pulp. If one really wants to make money with Top Step, then one MUST navigate their way through either of the biggest two combines, 100k or 150k. Otherwise, as Maverick74 said, it's just a "training tool" albeit a good one and a cost effective alternative to opening a retail account if one isn't well versed in trading futures.
There is "daily max" and "trailing max" draws. Perhaps it wasn't updated yet. If you exceed the intraday max ("daily max") then you're automatically stopped out, and hence that would violate the rules of the combine.
