Be cautious out there today. With market breadth having deteriorated this quick we might see a bounce. Don't hurry back in, on the long side. We need to make sure it is a strongly rally before we jump back in. Portfolio: <b>Short: 10%</b> <b>Cash: 90%</b> <b>Retirement Account: Cash 100%</b> .
############################################ Hard to understand what you mean [/QUOTE] ================= Gold getter; SPY,QQQQ.... because of percent gains plus considered volume/ liquidity. 10 year charts[both bull & bear markets] are what i mean by ''much data/age''. Meaning- not just % gains[top performing percent measure] ; but able to get out/in anytime [including this month,LOL]with minimum slippage. DIA is worth watching; but not a top performer, generally speaking] I may take 20 days to reply to a post, usualy not this quick,LOL
Nice info-graphic on internet usage: http://www.focus.com/fyi/information-technology/state-internet/ Mostly on sidelines. Yesterday's bounce was not convincing. Cheers!
I have no idea what to go for now. I see GLD (Gold) gapping up today, so I`m setting a relatively small bet on buying the gap down. Best I can think of right now, but I might get a small burn the third time in a row now , but I`m learning.
Haakon, These are very unusual circumstances. Remember being in cash is a trade as well. One of the most difficult things for a trader or investor to do is <b>"Not to Trade"</b>. I suggest stay on the sidelines and focusing every aspect of the market. These are monumental times for learning.....
Markets are showing decent strength here. Stocks are forming new highs and the money flow seems to be inward. I have decided to ease myself into the long side. I will be entering before market close today!
Calling off going long, I am staying put in cash, did not like the markets closing towards the lower end of the daily range.
<b>Market View for the week of 10.May.2010 to 14.May.2010</b> Buy Aggressively Buy Cautiously <b>Wait</b> Sell Cautiously Sell Aggressively (the highlighted option is my current sentiment) One of the statistics I like to compute is as follows: <ul> <li>I monitor the top 3000 stocks by liquidity( not market cap) <li>On a daily basis I calculate the number of the stocks from the above set that closed above the 40EMA. </ul> Here are the numbers for the past few days: <b>Fri, 14.May: 36%</b> <b>Thu, 13.May: 50%</b> <b>Wed, 12.May: 56%</b> <b>Tue, 11.May: 39%</b> <b>Mon, 10.May: 36%</b> The volatility in the market is definitely increasing. I almost committed to go long by yesterday(Thu)afternoon. The weaker session after lunch helped me decided to stay on the sidelines. We will have more selling to come. These are unusual times, let us not get adventurous. My system did trigger a buy signal on the <b>06.May.2010</b>, I decided to stay out due to the circumstances, but that would have made for a profitable swing trade. I am always uncomfortable when I am hurrying into a trade. Thus I don't mind losing money which was never really mine. Have a Great Week-end! Cheers!
The market breadth has significantly dropped. Check here: http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=$NYA50R&p=D&yr=0&mn=6&dy=0&id=t21475178180&r=6806&cmd=sendchart We should be seeing a short term bottom soon. If we see another day like that of <b>07.May</b> it might be it. Don't hurry back in "long", if you see a strong red day. Scale back in. I always like to go invest 33% of my capital at a time going long. Have a nice week ahead! .
